Senate Resolution No. 1289

        COMMENDING  Johnathan  Rudat  upon the occasion of
        his designation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the
        highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the New
        York State Senate
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize  and
honor  those  distinguished  citizens  who demonstrate great courage and
diligence in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
commend  Johnathan  Rudat  upon  the  occasion  of  his  designation  as
recipient  of  a  Liberty  Medal,  the  highest  honor  bestowed upon an
individual by the New York State Senate; and
 
  WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Liberty Medal was established  by
Resolution  and  is  awarded  to  individuals  who  have merited special
commendation for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf  of
their fellow New Yorkers; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Johnathan  Rudat was born on December 20, 2004, to Amy and
Chris Rudat of Schenectady, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Currently employed by Colonie EMS in Colonie, New  York  as
an  EMT,  Johnathan Rudat graduated from Hudson Valley Community College
in 2025 with an Associate in Applied Science in Paramedic; and
 
  WHEREAS, Johnathan Rudat had previously spent a  year  working  with
the Dresden City Fire Brigade in Dresden, Germany; and
 
  WHEREAS,   In   addition   to  his  work  as  an  emergency  medical
professional, Johnathan Rudat is also a part-time model,  artist  and  a
skilled martial arts student of both Judo and Bushido; and
 
  WHEREAS,  While traveling abroad in Germany, Johnathan Rudat noticed
two women being attacked on public transit; and
 
  WHEREAS, Drawing upon his compassion, bravery, and  instincts  as  a
first  responder,  Johnathan  Rudat  intervened to protect the two women
from their attackers, sustaining serious wounds  from  the  altercation;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Johnathan Rudat, in his spontaneous and heroic act, has so
aptly demonstrated his character  and  compassion  for  the  welfare  of
others, personifying, by virtue of his action, the collective concern of
ordinary citizens across the community of New York State who voluntarily
respond  without  thought of danger or reward when others are in need of
help; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
commend  Johnathan  Rudat  upon  the  occasion  of  his  designation  as
 
recipient of a  Liberty  Medal,  the  highest  honor  bestowed  upon  an
individual by the New York State Senate; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Johnathan Rudat.
