COMMENDING Grand Worthy Matron Yvonne Ladson upon
the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Eureka Grand Chapter, Prince Hall
Order Eastern Star, Inc., State of New York on May
29-30, 2023
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Grand Worthy Matron Yvonne Ladson upon the occasion of her designation
for special recognition by Eureka Grand Chapter, Prince Hall Order
Eastern Star, Inc., State of New York, to be observed at its 126th
Annual Grand Session on May 29-30, 2023, at the Westchester Marriott in
Tarrytown, New York; and
WHEREAS, Grand Worthy Matron Yvonne Ladson has given tirelessly of
her time and energies to Eureka Grand Chapter, Prince Hall Order Eastern
Star, Inc., State of New York, an adoptive rite of Freemasonry with
teachings based on the Bible and whose objectives are charitable and
benevolent; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to this vital
organization, Sister Yvonne Ladson was Initiated as a member of Deborah
Chapter No. 31 on March 18, 1988; she served the Chapter in the
appointed positions of Adah, Esther, Electa, and Assistant Secretary,
and was elected by the members as Associate Conductress, Conductress,
and Associate Matron; and
WHEREAS, In 1994, Yvonne Ladson was elected Worthy Matron, the
highest office of the Chapter; her work in Eureka Grand Chapter, under
numerous administrations, included appointments as Grand Adah, District
Deputy Grand Lecturer, District Deputy Grand Matron, Assistant Grand
Lecturer, Grand Lecturer, and as a member of the Chapter of Sorrow and
Administrative Degree Teams; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, Yvonne Ladson began her journey towards the Grand
East as she was elected by the members of Eureka Grand Chapter to the
station of Grand Associate Conductress of Eureka Grand Chapter; in June
of 2021, she was elected and installed as Grand Worthy Matron of Eureka
Grand Chapter; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, she is Past Most Royal Commandress of
Bathsheba Royal Court No. 15 Order of Cyrene and Honorary Past Imperial
Commandress Abu-Bekr Court No. 74 Daughters; and
WHEREAS, This extraordinary woman is an active member of Bethel
African Methodist Episcopal Church of Freeport, New York;
Freeport-Roosevelt NAACP; National Associate of Negro Business and
Professional Women's Clubs Central Nassau Club; and the National
Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., Beta Omicron Chapter; and
WHEREAS, In 2016, Yvonne Ladson retired from the Freeport School
District in Freeport after 34 years of devoted service as an elementary
school teacher; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefits of others which Grand Worthy Matron Yvonne
Ladson has displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Grand Worthy Matron Yvonne Ladson upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by Eureka Grand Chapter, Prince Hall
Order Eastern Star, Inc., State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Grand Worthy Matron Yvonne Ladson.
