in the State of New York

WHEREAS, November is recognized across the United States as National

selflessness of the millions of individuals who provide care to loved
ones with chronic illnesses, disabilities, or aging-related needs; and

WHEREAS, National recognition of family caregivers started in 1994,
and in New York State, an estimated 4.1 million residents serve as
unpaid caregivers providing essential daily assistance such as

support; and

WHEREAS, These dedicated caregivers often balance employment, family
responsibilities, and personal well-being while ensuring that loved ones
can remain in their homes and communities; and

WHEREAS, Caregiving can be emotionally, physically, and financially
demanding, and caregivers themselves may experience heightened stress,
health challenges, and reduced financial security as a result of their
selfless commitment; and

WHEREAS, Caregivers play a critical role in reducing the strain on
state health services and in ensuring better quality of life for those
receiving care; and

WHEREAS, It is fitting to recognize the vital contributions of
caregivers and to raise awareness of the resources and support systems
available to them; and

WHEREAS, Community, employer, and governmental support for
caregivers can improve health outcomes, reduce costs, and enhance
quality of life; and

WHEREAS, The first National Family Caregivers Month Presidential
Proclamation was signed by President Clinton in 1997, and every
president since has followed suit by issuing an annual proclamation
recognizing and honoring family caregivers each November; and

WHEREAS, This month-long observance is dedicated to recognizing,
thanking, and honoring family caregivers across the nation for their
commitment to providing vital care services as well as offering their
enduring comfort and assistance; and

WHEREAS, Family caregivers offer a range of support to both children
and adults with a wide range of needs, often providing care over many
years; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
months that are set aside to honor the commendable and noble acts of our
citizens, publicly acknowledging their good deeds and the immense value

they bring to their families and community at large; now, therefore, be
it
