        HONORING  Lorna Mae Johnson, MSN, NM, NP, upon the
        occasion of receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award
        in Business Leadership & Entrepreneurship by  Young,
        Gifted, & Black Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc.
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend individuals  whose  extraordinary  leadership,  innovation,  and
service  have  advanced  economic opportunity, strengthened communities,
and exemplified excellence across professional, civic, and  humanitarian
spheres; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lorna Mae Johnson, MSN, NM, NP, an entrepreneur,  healthcare  executive,
philanthropist,  author,  and  public  servant,  upon  the  occasion  of
receiving the  Lifetime  Achievement  Award  in  Business  Leadership  &
Entrepreneurship by Young, Gifted, & Black Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc.;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Founded  in  2006  by  Carl  Gray,  Young, Gifted, & Black
Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc., is a nonprofit organization  dedicated  to
recognizing  distinguished individuals of color across the Americas, the
Caribbean, and Africa, celebrating "unsung heroes  and  heroines"  whose
leadership,  resilience,  and  service have made a lasting impact across
business, healthcare, culture, and community development; and
 
  WHEREAS, Born in Jamaica and shaped by a journey  that  carried  her
through  Canada  and  ultimately to the United States, Lorna Mae Johnson
embodies the promise of the American dream, demonstrating  perseverance,
ambition,  and  excellence while breaking barriers and opening doors for
others along the way; and
 
  WHEREAS, A former Olympic-level track-and-field athlete,  Lorna  Mae
Johnson  distinguished  herself early through discipline, determination,
and competitive  excellence,  qualities  that  would  later  define  her
success across healthcare, entrepreneurship, and public service; and
 
  WHEREAS,   Lorna   Mae   Johnson  pursued  advanced  education  with
distinction, earning a Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery and  Finance
from  the  University  of  Southern  California  and graduating with top
honors as a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Theta Tau; she also earned
a Bachelor of  Science  in  Healthcare  Management,  reflecting  a  rare
integration of clinical expertise and financial acumen; and
 
  WHEREAS, As a visionary entrepreneur and healthcare executive, Lorna
Mae  Johnson serves as Chief Executive Officer of AFC Management Company
and Chief Financial Officer of AFC  Medical  Group,  providing  critical
maternal,   child,   and   family  healthcare  services  to  underserved
communities in South and East  Los  Angeles  while  advancing  equitable
access to quality care; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Lorna  Mae Johnson's entrepreneurial leadership extends to
real estate investment, authorship of "My Mother, My Champion," and  the
 
founding  of  the  LMJ  Global  Foundation (formerly Compassion for Teen
Life), a philanthropic organization dedicated  to  promoting  education,
healthy lifestyles, and opportunity for low-income children and families
across the United States, the Caribbean, and Africa; and
 
  WHEREAS, Lorna Mae Johnson has demonstrated an unwavering commitment
to public service and civic leadership, including her appointment to the
Los  Angeles  County  Commission  for Women, where she advocates for the
empowerment of women and girls, and her service as a national consultant
to elected leaders and institutions, advancing equity  and  opportunity;
and
 
  WHEREAS, Lorna Mae Johnson's distinguished service includes roles on
the  President's  Advisory  Committee on the Arts at the John F. Kennedy
Center for the Performing Arts under Presidents Barack Obama and  Joseph
R.    Biden, leadership within national political and civic initiatives,
and  service  as  a  council  member  of  the  White  House   Historical
Association; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Recognized  globally  for  her leadership and humanitarian
impact, Lorna Mae Johnson has been honored as one of the  "Seven  Wonder
Women  of  the  World,"  crowned a Queen Mother in Ghana, named Honorary
Consul of Jamaica  in  Los  Angeles,  and  awarded  the  Sino-Phil  Asia
International Peace Award in 2025, reflecting her far-reaching influence
across diplomacy, education, and global development; and
 
  WHEREAS,  A  respected  academic  and  mentor, Lorna Mae Johnson has
served as a clinical professor and lecturer at UCLA, former President of
the Florence-Firestone Chamber of Commerce, and a globally  sought-after
speaker  on  women's empowerment, financial literacy, healthcare equity,
and leadership, inspiring audiences across continents; and
 
  WHEREAS, Through a lifetime  of  excellence,  entrepreneurship,  and
service,   Lorna   Mae   Johnson   has  uplifted  communities,  expanded
opportunity, and exemplified principled  leadership,  leaving  a  legacy
that continues to inspire future generations; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lorna Mae Johnson, MSN, NM, NP, upon the occasion of receiving the
Lifetime Achievement Award in Business  Leadership  &  Entrepreneurship,
and  to  commend her extraordinary contributions to healthcare, business
innovation, philanthropy, and public service; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Lorna Mae Johnson as an expression of the highest respect
and appreciation of this Legislative Body.
