HONORING Eileen Oliver upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition at St. Aidan
School's 75th Anniversary Gala
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of their community and
its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Eileen Oliver upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition at St. Aidan School's 75th Anniversary Gala on Saturday,
January 31, 2026, at Heritage Club at Bethpage State Park; and
WHEREAS, Eileen Oliver began teaching at St. Aidan School in
Williston Park, New York, in 1978, teaching various subjects in grades 5
through 8 until 1995 when she was named principal of both the Upper and
Lower Schools; and
WHEREAS, Always an involved leader, Eileen Oliver moderated many
clubs and activities, including directing the school's annual musical
productions; and
WHEREAS, An impactful principal of St. Aidan School, Eileen Oliver
instituted full day preschool and after school programs, extended
foreign language curriculum, assisted in the design of the Library Media
Center in the Upper School which included new technology and video
conferencing equipment, and implemented a one-to-one iPad program for
all students in grades five through eight during her tenure; and
WHEREAS, Recognizing the deep value of fostering community
relationships, Eileen Oliver worked closely with the administration of
The Solomon Schechter School in coordinating joint activities during the
school year; she also proudly developed close relationships with all
parish organizations, particularly The Catholic Daughters of the
Americas, The Rosary Altar Society, The Holy Name Society, and The
Rotary Club of the Willistons; and
WHEREAS, For her unwavering dedication and passion for serving the
students, parents, and community of the St. Aidan School, Elieen Olver
has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades; she has
received The Elizabeth Ann Seton Award for outstanding service to
Catholic Education from St. Aidan Parish, The Seton Service Award from
The Sisters of Charity of Halifax, and The Community Service Award from
The American Legion Williston Post 144; and
WHEREAS, Looking back fondly on her fulfilling years of serving St.
Aidan School, Eileen Oliver is most proud of realizing a community where
all felt welcomed and loved; she also took great pleasure in welcoming
graduates who spoke of how they loved their years at St. Aidan School,
and welcomed with joy second and third generation St. Aidan students;
and
WHEREAS, Within every community, there are inevitably some
individuals who, by virtue of their energy, vision, and dedication,
command the greatest respect among their peers, colleagues, and
community at large; Elieen Oliver is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend
individuals of outstanding character who have shown initiative and
commitment toward constantly pursuing higher goals for themselves,
acting as role models of leadership to be emulated by both peers and
young people; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Eileen Oliver upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition at St. Aidan School's 75th Anniversary Gala; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Eileen Oliver.
