        CONGRATULATING  Fayth  Goodspeed of Niskayuna High
        School upon the occasion of capturing the Girls  100
        Yard   Breaststroke  title  at  the  NYSPHSAA  Girls
        Swimming and Diving  Championship  on  November  23,
        2024
 
  WHEREAS,  Individual  and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this  Legislative  Body  commends  rare  athletic
achievements  and  pays  special  recognition  to  those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
 
  WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both  the  moral  and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate high
school junior Fayth Goodspeed upon the occasion of capturing  the  Girls
100  Yard  Breaststroke  title at the NYSPHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving
Championship on November 23, 2024,  held  at  the  Webster  High  School
Aquatic Center in Webster, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS,   Earning   the   first   Niskayuna  girls  swimming  state
championship since 2012, Fayth Goodspeed defeated Fox Lane  High  School
's  Annabel  Smith by 62 hundredths of a second, in a time of 1:03.17 on
her way to the title; and
 
  WHEREAS, Following her State Championship, Fayth Goodspeed  competed
in  the  NI  STAR  Short Course Winter Invitational in Buffalo New York,
where  she  finished  in  first  place  in  both  the  Girls  100   Yard
Breaststroke  and  200  Yard  Breaststroke,  garnering  an overall State
Ranking of 12th for the Class of 2026 on the website - Swimcloud; and
 
  WHEREAS, Prior to her success at the state  level,  Fayth  Goodspeed
won  the  NYSPHSAA  Section  2,  Division 1 Championship, with a time of
1:05.31 on November 8, 2024, in Clifton Park, New York  in  front  of  a
capacity crowd and a fan base of family, friends, and teammates; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The athletic talent displayed by Fayth Goodspeed is due in
great part to the efforts of  Coach  Amanda  Nappi,  the  team's  expert
coaching  staff,  and  skilled  and  inspirational tutors, respected for
their ability to develop potential into excellence; and
 
  WHEREAS, Fayth Goodspeed 's overall record is outstanding;  she  was
loyally and enthusiastically supported by her family, teammates, friends
and the community at large throughout her journey; and
 
  WHEREAS,  For  her  outstanding  meet  season,  Fayth  Goodspeed was
recognized by the Times Union, a longtime Capital  Region  newspaper  as
the 2024 Girls' Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Year; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride,
and accomplishment, and Fayth Goodspeed has clearly made a  contribution
to  the  spirit  of  excellence which is a tradition of her school; now,
therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Fayth Goodspeed upon the occasion of  capturing  the  Girls
100  Yard  Breaststroke  title at the NYSPHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving
Championship on November 23, 2024; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That copies of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted  to  Fayth Goodspeed, Coach Amanda Nappi, and Niskayuna High
School Athletic Director Larry Gillooley.
