Senate Resolution No. 1568

        HONORING  Brian  Bellair  upon the occasion of his
        retirement after 26 years of  distinguished  service
        to the Whitesboro Central School District
 
  WHEREAS,   This   Legislative   Body   seeks  to  acknowledge  those
individuals whose  professional  lives  and  civic  endeavors  serve  to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
 
  WHEREAS,  For  the  past  26 years, Brian Bellair rendered faithful,
conscientious, and valuable service to  the  Whitesboro  Central  School
District; and
 
  WHEREAS, In his capacity as superintendent of schools, Brian Bellair
served with loyalty, honor, and distinction; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Brian  Bellair  began  his  career with Whitesboro Central
School District in 2000,  when  he  was  appointed  principal  at  Marcy
Elementary  School;  in 2005, he assumed the role of director of special
programs, and in 2016, was appointed to superintendent of  schools,  the
distinguished role from which he will retire; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  2017,  Brian  Bellair  earned a doctorate in education
policy and leadership from SUNY Albany, building  on  a  certificate  of
advanced  study  in  school  leadership  from SUNY Cortland, a Master of
Science in vocational  and  technical  education  from  SUNY  Oswego,  a
Bachelor  of  Professional  Studies  in business with a concentration in
marketing from SUNY IT, and an associate degree in  applied  science  in
accounting from Mohawk Valley Community College; and
 
  WHEREAS,  An  admired  and  respected  administrator  with  a career
spanning 35 years in the  field  of  education,  Brian  Bellair  is  the
recipient  of  numerous  awards and accolades; he was designated the New
York State Outstanding Educator of  the  Year  in  2011  by  the  School
Administrators  Association,  and  was  the  recipient  of the 2019-2020
Professional of the Year Award from the New York State  Association  for
Athletics, Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In his official acts, Brian Bellair was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;  these
outstanding  attributes  empowered the superintendent to lead with grace
during the COVID-19 pandemic, finding an important balance of safety and
education throughout its duration; and
 
  WHEREAS, Brian Bellair holds the determination and resilience of his
students, and the commitment and care the staff  of  Whitesboro  Central
School  District  in high regard as he enters an exciting new chapter of
his life; and
 
  WHEREAS, During his tenure with Whitesboro Central School  District,
Brian  Bellair  earned  the  admiration,  esteem,  and  affection of his
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  Brian  Bellair upon the occasion of his retirement after 26 years
of distinguished service; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Brian Bellair.
