MEMORIALIZING Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim July
2026, as Lake Appreciation Month in the State of New
York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official months that are set aside to increase awareness of issues that
affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim July 2026, as Lake
Appreciation Month in the State of New York, in conjunction with the
observance of National Lake Appreciation Month; and
WHEREAS, Lake Appreciation Month is a time to recognize the
importance of lakes and reservoirs and their place among New York's most
valuable resources; and
WHEREAS, Lakes and reservoirs provide drinking water, irrigation,
energy, recreation, scenic beauty, and habitat for wildlife; these
beneficial uses have been of vital importance to New York's history,
growth, and financial health; and
WHEREAS, Lakes and reservoirs of this great Empire State improve the
quality of life for all of New York's residents and their importance
should not go unnoticed; and
WHEREAS, The State of New York recognizes the need to protect these
lakes and reservoirs for future generations; and
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim July 2026, as Lake
Appreciation Month in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Kathy Hochul, Governor of the State of New
York.
