HONORING Pastor Serge Robert upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition at the Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Visionary Awards Gala on
March 22, 2026
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those individuals whose lives of faith, leadership, and
dedicated service uplift their communities and reflect the enduring
spiritual and humanitarian legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Pastor Serge Robert upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Visionary Awards Gala on
Sunday, March 22, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Serge Robert was born in 1958 in Belladere, Haiti, a
rural town in the nation's eastern region, where he was instilled early
with the values of discipline, faith, and perseverance that would guide
his life's journey; and
WHEREAS, At the age of 21, motivated by a desire to pursue higher
education and expand his opportunities, Pastor Serge Robert relocated to
Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital, where he completed his secondary
education and continued his academic pursuits; and
WHEREAS, Demonstrating intellectual focus and professional ambition,
Pastor Serge Robert earned a degree in accounting from Ecole Saints
Trinity de Port-au-Prince, equipping him with the skills that would
support his early career in national service; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Serge Robert served honorably as an officer in the
Haitian military for 15 years, a distinguished tenure that included an
assignment at the National Palace, where he worked alongside senior
government officials and contributed to the service of his nation with
integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, Alongside his professional commitments, Pastor Serge Robert
remained deeply rooted in his faith as an active member of the 2nd
Baptist Church of Port-au-Prince, where he met his beloved late wife,
Darcilia Chavre, with whom he built a loving family and raised four
children grounded in spiritual values; and
WHEREAS, In 1995, Pastor Serge Robert immigrated to the United
States, embracing a new chapter of opportunity, growth, and ministry,
and in 1997 he became a devoted member of Church of God Faith in Christ,
a congregation that would become central to his pastoral calling; and
WHEREAS, Answering a higher call to theological leadership, Pastor
Serge Robert pursued advanced ministerial training and, in 2004, earned
a Master's Degree in Theology from the Centre d'Etude et de Reeducation
EvangElique de New York; and
WHEREAS, In 2006, Pastor Serge Robert was officially ordained as a
pastor, affirming his spiritual commitment and formalizing his role as a
shepherd, teacher, and servant-leader within the faith community; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Serge Robert faithfully serves as Assistant Pastor
at Church of God Faith in Christ in Brooklyn, New York, where he is
widely respected for his powerful preaching, compassionate pastoral
care, and unwavering dedication to the spiritual well-being of his
congregation; and
WHEREAS, Known for his warm smile, gentle spirit, and humble
leadership, Pastor Serge Robert has become not only a trusted spiritual
guide but also a mentor and friend to many, leaving an enduring imprint
on the lives he touches through faith and fellowship; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Pastor Serge Robert upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Visionary Awards
Gala, and to commend him for his lifelong devotion to faith, ministry,
leadership, and community service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Pastor Serge Robert as a lasting expression of the
highest respect and admiration of this Legislative Body.
