        COMMEMORATING  the  20th  Anniversary  of Park and
        Public Lands Advocacy Day on February 25, 2026
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom  of  this  Legislative  Body  to  increase
public  awareness and appreciation of our State's great parks and public
lands, as well as to encourage individuals across various communities to
come together to help preserve,  protect,  clean,  and  care  for  these
public lands and historic sites; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
commemorate  the  20th Anniversary of Park and Public Lands Advocacy Day
on Wednesday, February 25, 2026; and
 
  WHEREAS, Formerly known as Park Advocacy Day, Park  &  Public  Lands
Advocacy  Day  celebrates  the  growing  coalition  of  all  public land
champions; and
 
  WHEREAS, 2026 marks two full decades of park advocates gathering  at
the  New  York  State Capitol to speak to the State's decision-makers on
the value of public land; and
 
  WHEREAS, This day provides an opportunity to celebrate the continued
investments in New York State's park system, green spaces, and the  huge
achievements  for  the  organizations' collective advocacy work over the
past 20 years; and
 
  WHEREAS, New York's public lands and parks are vital resources  that
shape  communities, support wildlife habitats, and benefit both physical
and mental health; the safeguarding of these spaces is paramount as they
provide opportunities for everyone to  explore,  play,  wonder,  unwind,
learn, and find inspiration; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Throughout  its distinguished history, Park & Public Lands
Advocacy  Day  has  demonstrated  continuous  success,  benefiting   the
residents  and communities of this great Empire State beyond measure and
for generations to come; and
 
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative  Body  to  commend  the
illustrious  events  of  the  State of New York, the focus and intent of
which have made a substantial impact on the quality  of  life  in  their
communities; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Park and Public Lands  Advocacy  Day
on February 25, 2026.
