Senate Resolution No. 1689

        CONGRATULATING  Cora Hinsdill upon the occasion of
        capturing the 2026 NYSPHSAA Girls Nordic Skiing 7.5K
        Individual Championship
 
  WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly  sought  after
in  high  school  sports;  this  Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special  recognition  to  those  who  pursue  such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Athletic  competition  helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
 
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate  Cora
Hinsdill  upon  the occasion of capturing the 2026 NYSPHSAA Girls Nordic
Skiing 7.5K Individual Championship at Bristol Mountain  Ski  Resort  in
Canandaigua, New York, on Monday, February 23, 2026; and
 
  WHEREAS,   Adirondack  High  School  senior,  Cora  Hinsdill,  is  a
four-time  New  York  State  Public  High  School  Athletic  Association
(NYSPHSAA)   Nordic   Ski   champion,  winning  all  four  championships
consecutively; and
 
  WHEREAS, As the lone Nordic skier to win four consecutive individual
state titles, Cora Hinsdill has achieved an outstanding overall  record;
she was loyally and enthusiastically supported by her family, teammates,
friends, and the community; and
 
  WHEREAS, One of 48 competitors in the event, Cora Hinsdill completed
her  impressive  high school skiing career with a time of 22 minutes and
29.4 seconds in the 7.5K Individual Championship; she was more than  one
minute and 15 seconds faster than the second-place finisher; and
 
  WHEREAS, In 2025, Cora Hinsdill won the event at the same venue with
a  time  of 28:22.5; in 2024, she placed first in the same event in Lake
Placid and at Bristol Mountain in 2023; in 2022, she had a top-15 finish
at Gore Mountain Nordic Center; due to COVID-19 challenges, no event was
held in 2021; and
 
  WHEREAS, Athletically and academically,  Cora  Hinsdill  has  proven
herself to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favorably
on her school; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride,
and accomplishment, and Cora Hinsdill has  clearly  contributed  to  the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of her school; now, therefore,
be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Cora Hinsdill upon  the  occasion  of  capturing  the  2026
 
NYSPHSAA  Girls  Nordic  Skiing  7.5K Individual Championship; and be it
further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Cora Hinsdill.
