Senate Resolution No. 1698

        COMMEMORATING   the  30th  Anniversary  of  Oneida
        Carpets
 
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to  recognize  the
achievements   of  those  individuals  and  businesses  that  contribute
substantially to the economic vitality  of  their  communities,  thereby
enhancing the economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Oneida Carpets, which was celebrated
in February of 2026; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Founded  by  United States Air Force Veteran Tony White in
1996, Oneida Carpets has been operating on Madison Street in Oneida, New
York, for 30 years; and
 
  WHEREAS, Founder Tony White began  his  career  in  flooring  as  an
independent  carpet  installer after being honorably discharged from the
United States Air Force in October, 1959, and by 1996 he  gained  enough
skill and determination to open his own business, Oneida Carpets; and
 
  WHEREAS,  30  years after its founding, Oneida Carpets now sells and
installs much more  than  just  carpets,  including  laminate,  ceramic,
floating LVT, sheet vinyl, vinyl tiles, and hardwood; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Since  Tony White's death in 2023, Oneida Carpets has been
passed down to his sons, Scott and Lynn White, and the  family  business
is now operated by Scott, Lynn, Barbara, and Tara White; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The second generation of owners is committed to continuing
the legacy and vision of their father, and  Scott,  Lynn,  Barbara,  and
Tara  White  still  go into the community to do measurements and provide
estimates for customers; and
 
  WHEREAS, Oneida Carpets has faced significant  hardships  throughout
its  30  years  of operation, including a fire in 2000 that required the
business to relocate to its current  location  on  Madison  Street,  the
housing market crash of 2008, and the pandemic in March of 2020; despite
these  hardships,  Oneida Carpets has persevered and remained strong and
successful; and
 
  WHEREAS, Oneida Carpets is  committed  to  providing  a  variety  of
styles, textures, and colors of flooring to the central New York region,
and  their  services  have  greatly  enhanced  the  lives  and  homes of
countless New Yorkers; and
 
  WHEREAS, The success of Oneida Carpets is in direct  correlation  to
the  efforts  of  its staff and owners, whose involvement is, and always
has been,  characterized  by  an  impressive  commitment,  an  unbridled
enthusiasm,   and  an  uncompromising  standard  of  excellence  in  all
endeavors on behalf of the community; and
 
  WHEREAS, It is  with  great  pleasure  that  this  Legislative  Body
acknowledges  this  exceptional  business  and  its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident  that  it  will  continue  to
enjoy  the  sparkling  successes  it  has  experienced  thus  far;  now,
therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Oneida Carpets, which was celebrated
in February of 2026; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Oneida Carpets.
