CONGRATULATING Johnny Macko upon the occasion of
capturing two state titles at the NYSPHSAA Boys
Varsity Swimming and Diving Championships
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those young athletes within the State of New York who, through
outstanding dedication, talent, and sportsmanship, bring pride and honor
to their schools and communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Johnny Macko upon the occasion of capturing state titles at
the NYSPHSAA Boys Varsity Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday,
March 7, 2026, at Ithaca College; and
WHEREAS, Johnny Macko, a junior at Wellington C. Mepham High School
and co-captain of the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District's
Sharks boys swim team, delivered a dominant and inspiring performance at
the NYSPHSAA Boys Varsity Swimming and Diving Championships; and
WHEREAS, Demonstrating exceptional endurance, skill, and
determination, Johnny Macko secured two New York State Championship
titles, winning the 200 Freestyle with an outstanding time of 1:39.47
and the 500 Freestyle with an impressive 4:28.31; and
WHEREAS, Both performances marked personal bests for Johnny Macko
and met the highly competitive All-American consideration standards,
underscoring his remarkable talent and commitment to excellence in the
sport of swimming; and
WHEREAS, Through the combined efforts of its talented athletes and
coaching staff, the Bellmore-Merrick Sharks boys swim team achieved a
commendable 23rd place finish in New York State, reflecting a season
defined by perseverance, teamwork, and competitive spirit; and
WHEREAS, The success of this program is due in large part to the
dedicated leadership of Head Coach Mike Miller, whose guidance,
mentorship, and commitment to the development of student-athletes have
helped cultivate both athletic achievement and strong character among
his swimmers; and
WHEREAS, Johnny Macko's accomplishments exemplify the highest ideals
of athletic competition, serving as a source of pride for his school,
his teammates, and the Bellmore-Merrick community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Johnny Macko upon the occasion of capturing two state
titles at the NYSPHSAA Boys Varsity Swimming and Diving Championships;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Johnny Macko and Head Coach Mike Miller.
