COMMEMORATING the 60th Anniversary of Edwards
Ambulance, Inc.
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
applaud outstanding individuals within our communities whose actions and
accomplishments contribute to the health, safety and well-being of the
communities of the State of New York and to the quality of life of its
people; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Edwards Ambulance, Inc. in July of
2024; and
WHEREAS, In 1964, Irving and Martha Edwards of Chadwicks, New York,
bought a single ambulance from another local business entity located in
Washington Mills, New York; and
WHEREAS, From that point forward, Irving, Martha and their children
worked tirelessly to obtain proper permitting from the New York State
Department of Health and the necessary training and equipment to serve
the residents of the Towns of New Hartford, Paris, and surrounding
municipal territories; and
WHEREAS, In 1987, Irving Edwards turned his successful and extremely
well-respected family-built business over to his youngest son, Gary
Edwards, who continues to operate Edwards Ambulance and has grown the
business exponentially to accommodate increasing demand for services;
and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Gary Edwards remains an active Advanced Life
Support provider and has direct dealings with various day to day
operations; and
WHEREAS, Today, Edwards Ambulance employees over 60 active EMS
providers, dispatchers, and billing staff, and operates 24 hours a day,
seven days a week, with four fully equipped Advanced Life Support
Ambulances and two New York State Certified Emergency Ambulance Service
Vehicles to support ambulance staff and for Mutual Aid assistance; and
WHEREAS, Additionally, this vital ambulance service responds to
approximately 7,300 calls annually and its demand for services continues
to grow; and
WHEREAS, For six decades, Edwards Ambulance has provided dedicated
and professional Emergency Medical Services to Oneida and Herkimer
Counties; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Edwards Ambulance; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body cannot express sufficient gratitude
to those devoted individuals who recognize that the preservation of life
is a sacred responsibility and who make that responsibility their own by
serving their local Ambulance Corps; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Edwards Ambulance, Inc.; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Edwards Ambulance, Inc.
