HONORING Ryan Tullo upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the New York State
Citizenship Award
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character, conduct, and
accomplishments best exemplify the ideals of responsibility, integrity,
and service that are foundational to civic life in this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Ryan Tullo upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the New
York State Citizenship Award; he will be recognized at a Senior Awards
Night event on Thursday, May 28, 2026; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Citizenship Award recognizes students
who demonstrate outstanding citizenship through excellence in academics,
meaningful community involvement, leadership in school and
extracurricular activities, and a consistent commitment to serving
others with responsibility and respect; and
WHEREAS, Ryan Tullo, a senior at Wantagh High School, has
distinguished himself as a young adult of exceptional character,
demonstrating dependability, initiative, and a strong sense of civic
responsibility in both his school and broader community; and
WHEREAS, In the area of academic citizenship, Ryan Tullo has
consistently pursued academic excellence while contributing positively
to the school environment as a member of the National Business Honor
Society, National Honor Society, and World Language Honor Society, each
of which reflects his dedication to scholarship, responsibility, and
intellectual growth; and
WHEREAS, Ryan Tullo has further demonstrated academic integrity and
leadership by maintaining high standards of personal accountability and
serving as a role model to his peers, exemplifying what it means to be a
responsible student citizen within the school community; and
WHEREAS, In the spirit of school citizenship, Ryan Tullo has
actively contributed to the culture of his school through his
involvement in organizations that promote leadership, service, and
collaboration among students, helping to strengthen a sense of unity and
shared purpose within Wantagh High School; and
WHEREAS, Athletically, Ryan Tullo has exemplified sportsmanship,
teamwork, and respect for others through his participation in varsity
baseball and golf, earning recognition from Long Island Baseball, All
League (2024 and 2025), Preseason All Long Island, and Defensive MVP in
the Leiderman Cup, all of which reflect his dedication, discipline, and
commitment to excellence; and
WHEREAS, Through athletics, Ryan Tullo has further demonstrated the
principles of citizenship by supporting his teammates, demonstrating
perseverance in competition, and representing his school with pride,
humility, and integrity both on and off the field; and
WHEREAS, Ryan Tullo has exhibited outstanding leadership and civic
responsibility through his roles as Founder and President of the Health
and Wellness Club, Treasurer of the National Business Honor Society, and
Secretary of the Entrepreneurship Club, where he has helped guide peers,
organize initiatives, and encourage positive engagement within the
student body; and
WHEREAS, In each of these leadership roles, Ryan Tullo has
demonstrated a strong commitment to service, accountability, and
collaboration, fostering environments in which students are encouraged
to contribute meaningfully to their school and community; and
WHEREAS, Ryan Tullo has further strengthened his citizenship profile
through extensive community involvement, including work at the front
desk of the Long Island Baseball facility, coaching winter workouts for
Long Island Baseball, and assisting younger athletes in developing both
skills and character through structured athletic programs; and
WHEREAS, In service to his community, Ryan Tullo has contributed his
time and effort to the Helping Hands Mission by assisting with
Thanksgiving boxes, participated in the Wantagh baseball summer camp
alongside his peers, and coached at the 11U baseball clinic, each of
which reflects a genuine commitment to helping others and giving back
without expectation of recognition; and
WHEREAS, Through these experiences, Ryan Tullo has demonstrated that
citizenship is not only expressed through formal achievement, but also
through consistent acts of service, mentorship, and responsibility
toward others in both structured and informal settings; and
WHEREAS, Ryan Tullo's record reflects a young man who understands
the importance of contributing to the well-being of his community,
supporting younger students and athletes, and using his skills and time
to positively impact those around him; and
WHEREAS, The impactful leadership, steadfast responsibility, and
unwavering drive which Ryan Tullo has continually displayed have earned
him this distinguished recognition, reflecting his strong moral
character and dedication to civic engagement; and
WHEREAS, Ryan Tullo plans to attend Lynn University where he will
continue his academic and athletic career by playing baseball and
studying criminal justice, with aspirations of becoming a police officer
or serving within the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), thereby
continuing his commitment to public service and community protection;
and
WHEREAS, As Ryan Tullo looks forward to the next chapter of his
life, he is poised to further develop his leadership abilities, expand
his academic and professional goals, and continue making meaningful
contributions to society through service and public responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Poised with a great sense of enthusiasm and purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably with just pride in his accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and
appreciating the guidance, encouragement, and support provided by his
teachers, mentors, coaches, family, and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ryan Tullo upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the New York State Citizenship Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ryan Tullo.
