WHEREAS, Founded in 1977, by approximately 18 visionary lawmakers,

African Americans; and

WHEREAS, The National Black Caucus of State Legislators is dedicated
to promoting educational, research, and training initiatives that equip
its members to make informed decisions on legislation and public policy
affecting Black communities and other underserved populations; and

WHEREAS, Through its commitment to fostering collaboration,
advancing model legislation, and encouraging the exchange of ideas and
information, the National Black Caucus of State Legislators serves as a
dynamic force for public policy innovation and effective governance; and

WHEREAS, The organization operates as a strong and unified advocate
for African American state legislators and their constituencies at the
federal level, while also strengthening the effectiveness and influence
of its members within their respective states; and

WHEREAS, The State of New York has long been home to a distinguished
and diverse body of legislators who have contributed meaningfully to the
mission and work of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators,

New Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, The 50th Anniversary of the National Black Caucus of State
Legislators marks a significant milestone in its enduring legacy of
bipartisan leadership, advocacy, and service, as well as its continued
commitment to improving the lives of African Americans and underserved
communities nationwide; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the National Black Caucus of State

Legislators, recognizing its invaluable contributions to public service
