CONGRATULATING James Griffith upon the occasion of
receiving the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, the
most prestigious of Scouting honors, on June 21,
2026
WHEREAS, James Griffith, through his diligence and rigorous efforts,
has achieved Scouting's highest and most prestigious rank, Eagle Scout;
the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026,
at Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department, Manhasset, New York; and
WHEREAS, James Griffith is a member of Scouts BSA Troop 71,
Plandome, New York; and
WHEREAS, America has achieved its greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain its glory; and
WHEREAS, Scouts BSA and its members are dedicated to the development
of character and leadership in the youth of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, The highest achievement of leadership in Scouting, earned
by approximately five percent of all Scouts, is the distinguished rank
of Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young man has been involved in Scouting
for many years, has lived up to Scouting's ideals and has attained all
the necessary achievements, including completion of a community service
project, which was successfully planned, developed, and executed; and
WHEREAS, For his project, James Griffith partnered with the Udalls
Cove Preservation Committee to refine and expand an existing trail in
Little Neck, planning and leading a team to clear and extend the trail
and line it with wood chips in order to improve its safety and
accessibility for the community; and
WHEREAS, He demonstrated exceptional initiative and civic
responsibility by raising the resources necessary for his Eagle Scout
project through organizing a beach cleanup fundraiser and securing
support from family and friends, thereby contributing to the
beautification and betterment of the community; and
WHEREAS, James Griffith began his Scouting journey in elementary
school as a Cub Scout in Pack 101, and after earning the Arrow of Light,
the highest honor in Cub Scouting, joined Troop 71 where he demonstrated
leadership, service, and perseverance; and
WHEREAS, Through his years in Scouting, James Griffith developed a
deep appreciation for the outdoors and built lasting memories through
weekend campouts, summer camping at Onteora Scout Reservation, hikes,
and evenings spent around the campfire with fellow Scouts; and
WHEREAS, James graduated from Manhasset High School in 2025, where
he excelled academically through numerous Honors and Advanced Placement
courses and participated in the Cross Country and Track and Field teams,
as well as the Engineering Club; and
WHEREAS, James is currently a sophomore at Texas A&M University
majoring in engineering, and continues to demonstrate leadership and
service through his involvement in the Theta Chi fraternity, Aggies
Promoting Literacy, and the Society of Technological Evolution and
Engineering Leadership; and
WHEREAS, James Griffith's perseverance in rising through the ranks
to Eagle Scout is a strong indication of his ability to master difficult
tasks; his accomplishment will enable him to emerge as a leader, fully
equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex society; and
WHEREAS, This new Eagle Scout is a credit to his family, his school,
his community, his State and his Nation, and no doubt his future will be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor James Griffith on achieving the rank of Eagle
Scout; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to James Griffith.
