MOURNING the death of Richard Coyne, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Richard Coyne of Croton-on-Hudson, New York, died on
January 23, 2026, at the age of 79; and
WHEREAS, Born on September 17, 1946, in Yonkers, New York, to the
late Albert and Catherine (Bartel) Coyne, Richard Coyne proudly served
his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, before he
dedicated his life to his craft, his family, and the outdoors he loved
so dearly; and
WHEREAS, Richard Coyne distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, Richard Coyne owned and operated Performance Engineering
from 1971 to 1983, specializing in automotive repair and competition
race cars; and
WHEREAS, Spending the next 28 years inspiring and educating young
minds as an automotive instructor at Saunders Trade and Technical High
School in Yonkers, Richard Coyne dedicated his time to sharing his love
for automotive repair until his retirement in 2001; and
WHEREAS, Richard Coyne's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Beyond his professional accomplishments, Richard Coyne was
an avid outdoorsman who found joy in fishing and hunting; and
WHEREAS, When not in the field, Richard Coyne could be found
coaching his children in youth sports or cheering proudly from the
sidelines as his grandchildren took the field and the court; and
WHEREAS, Richard Coyne's life was marked by generosity, patience,
and an enduring love for his family and community; and
WHEREAS, Richard Coyne is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years,
Lynn Coyne; his sister, Marilyn Falk; his brothers Joseph and Charles
Boyce; his children, Doreen Francey (Bryan), Sean Coyne (Jennifer), and
Michael Coyne (Crystal); and his cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Olivia,
Colden, Wyatt Francey, Caiden, Tinley, and Declan Coyne; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Richard Coyne leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Richard Coyne, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Richard Coyne.
