MOURNING the death of Philip A. Marino,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Philip A. Marino of Stony Point, New York, died on Tuesday,
April 14, 2026, at the age of 79; and
WHEREAS, Born on July 8, 1946, in Bronx, New York, to Frank and Olga
Marino, Philip A. Marino was a proud New Yorker who lived a life rooted
in service, faith, and family; and
WHEREAS, Philip A. Marino distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, For 33 years, Philip A. Marino worked as a teacher in the
Clarkstown Central School District, mentoring and educating the youth of
today and preparing them to become the leaders of tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, Drawn closely to faith, Philip A. Marino was an ordained
Catholic Deacon and served the Immaculate Conception parish of Stony
Point for 42 years; as a deacon, he heavily involved himself in the
local community and assisted those in need; and
WHEREAS, Philip A. Marino's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Beginning on May 1, 1995, Philip A. Marino served in the
unique role of fire chaplain to the Wayne Hose Volunteer Fire Department
of Stony Point, offering guidance, support, and comfort to generations
of firefighters and their families; and
WHEREAS, Philip A. Marino's admirable service as fire chaplain to
the Wayne Hose Volunteer Fire Department of Stony Point earned him "Life
Membership" status in January 2020, marking the first time a
non-firematic member has been granted this honor; and
WHEREAS, With a desire to utilize his leadership skills and
contribute to the advancement of his community, Philip A. Marino worked
as town supervisor of Stony Point from 2006 to 2008, and was an active
member of the Rockland County Critical Incident Stress Management Team;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to his various professional endeavors, Philip
A. Marino was also a football and baseball coach and a little league
umpire; and
WHEREAS, When he was not actively engaging with his neighbors and
community, Philip A. Marino enjoyed playing golf, fishing, traveling,
cheering on the New York Rangers, and spending time with his cherished
family; and
WHEREAS, Philip A. Marino is survived by his loving wife of 54
years, Patricia Ann Marino; his children, Karan Cigna (Ed Cigna), Philip
Marino, and David Marino (Heather Marino); his grandchildren, Eddie,
Owen, Liam, and Olivia; and his sister, Terry Siciliano; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Philip A. Marino leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Philip A. Marino, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Philip A. Marino.
