Senate Resolution No. 2375

HONORING Dr. Benjamin Ciuffo upon the occasion of
his retirement after 31 years of dedicated service
to the Jericho Union Free School District
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dr. Benjamin Ciuffo upon the occasion of his retirement after 31 years
of dedicated service to the Jericho Union Free School District; and
WHEREAS, For the past 31 years, Dr. Benjamin Ciuffo rendered
faithful, conscientious, and valuable service to the Jericho Union Free
School District, earning the admiration, esteem, and affection of his
colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Benjamin Ciuffo has graduated from Hunter College,
Hofstra University, and Columbia University, where he received his
Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Education degrees,
respectively; and
WHEREAS, Having over three decades of experience in the field of
education, Dr. Benjamin Ciuffo has served as an English teacher at
various schools (1969-1977), as assistant principal and principal of
Bellmore-Merrick Summer High School (1975-1979), assistant principal and
principal of Brookside Junior High School (1979-1985), and as principal
of Calhoun High School of Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District
(1985-1993), before becoming the Assistant Superintendent for
Educational Operations & Human Resources at Jericho Union Free School
District, the esteemed position from which he will retire; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as Assistant Superintendent for Educational
Operations & Human Resources, Dr. Benjamin Ciuffo always served with
loyalty, honor, and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of
duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in his official
acts; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Benjamin Ciuffo married his beloved wife, Dr. Maureen
Appiarius, with whom he raised two cherished children; he also has the
great joy of being the grandfather to two grandchildren; all of his
family members and dear friends feel privileged to be a part of his life
and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Benjamin Ciuffo upon the occasion of his retirement after 31
years of distinguished service to Jericho Union Free School District;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Benjamin Ciuffo.
