COMMENDING the Lions Club of District 20-K1 upon
the occasion of hosting its Testimonial Gala and
paying tribute to Honoree, District Governor Antonio
Robles
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations and individuals whose focus and intent have
made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their communities;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Lions Club of District 20-K1 upon the occasion of hosting
its Testimonial Gala at Jericho Terrace in Mineola, New York, on Sunday,
June 9, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Governor Antonio Robles, the Lions
Club of District 20-K1, in Brooklyn and Queens, New York, has organized
programs to benefit the visually and hearing impaired, raised the
funding to combat cancer and diabetes, provided food and clothing for
the disadvantaged, and partnered with other organizations, including the
New York City Parks Department, to beautify parks and improve the
aesthetic appearance of the community's environment; and
WHEREAS, Governor Antonio Robles has given not only of his time and
energies but also of his competence, intelligence, and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor for his dedicated
service to the residents of District 20-K1 in Brooklyn and Queens, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Governor Antonio Robles has been called upon to contribute
his time and talents to civic and charitable endeavors and has given of
himself unstintingly; throughout the entire period of his community
service, a period of constructive involvement, he has stood constant in
dignity and good grace; and
WHEREAS, As his signature project this year, Governor Antonio Robles
has commissioned the District's Cancer Committee to return the District
to its Flagship Sponsor status with the American Cancer Society; this
prestige was achieved at the 2023 "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer"
Walk in Brooklyn and Queens; the tremendous support for the services and
events fulfills the Governor's theme, "Inspiring Minds Through Service";
and
WHEREAS, The Committee established a multi-faceted plan comprised of
donations from Lions Clubs, a fundraising project conducted by Leo
Clubs, and the Committee's own fundraising ventures; exceeding
expectations, $25,547 was raised; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Governor Antonio Robles has
displayed; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Lions Club of
District 20-K1 and Governor Antonio Robles; and
WHEREAS, Maintaining its tradition of celebrating organizations and
individuals who exemplify altruistic values and inspire future
generations with exceptional service, this Legislative Body now honors
Governor Antonio Robles and the Lions Club of District 20-K1 and eagerly
await the great works they will continue to achieve; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Lions Club of District 20-K1 upon the occasion of hosting
its Testimonial Gala and paying tribute to Honoree, District Governor
Antonio Robles; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Lions Club of District 20-K1 and District Governor
Antonio Robles.
