Senate Resolution No. 2724

        CONGRATULATING Nancy Chamberlain upon the occasion
        of celebrating her 100th Birthday
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the custom of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens  of  this  great
Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play  in  today's  society;  their
past  contributions  and  future  participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
 
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
congratulate Nancy Chamberlain upon  the  occasion  of  celebrating  her
100th Birthday on Sunday, August 4, 2024; and
 
  WHEREAS,   Born  on  August  4,  1924  in  Ilion,  New  York,  Nancy
Chamberlain was the youngest of three children; she graduated from Ilion
High School in 1942 and Cornell University in 1945; and
 
  WHEREAS, Nancy Chamberlain was a teacher for two and a half years in
Copenhagen, New York, before marrying Clifford Ivan Chamberlain in  1947
at  the  Dutch  Reformed  Church in Mohawk; the couple raised their four
sons, David, Peter, Samuel and Robert, in Beaver Falls, where Nancy  was
a homemaker for 10 years, dedicating herself to making a loving home for
her family; and
 
  WHEREAS,  She  went  on  to  have  a  19-year  career  teaching Home
Economics  and  Health  at  Beaver  River  Central  School   until   her
retirement; and
 
  WHEREAS,   With   a  steadfast  and  unwavering  commitment  to  her
community, Nancy Chamberlain was  active  in  the  Beaver  Falls  United
Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Cornell University's Delta
Gamma  sorority;  she  enjoyed  quilting,  sewing, and singing in church
choirs; and
 
  WHEREAS, In addition to her four sons, today, Nancy  Chamberlain  is
the    proud    grandmother    of    eight    grandchildren   and   nine
great-grandchildren; and
 
  WHEREAS, Nancy Chamberlain, with her zest for life, has inspired and
enhanced the lives of her family and friends; and
 
  WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian has experienced the incredible
joys and sorrows characteristic of  and  reserved  for  those  with  the
stamina and courage to savor a full life; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Nancy  Chamberlain  has enriched the lives of those around
her through her joyous and sincere  love  for  others  and  through  the
profound charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  intent  of  this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those who have reached such a  remarkable  age  and  who  have
witnessed  and  celebrated  the  innovations,  cultural developments and
awesome achievements of this country  during  the  last  century,  while
themselves  contributing  to  the  growth  and  excellence of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
congratulate  Nancy  Chamberlain  upon  the  occasion of celebrating her
100th Birthday; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Nancy Chamberlain.
