HONORING Linda Zakrzewski upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Lifetime Achiever of
the Year Award by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce
on March 20, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's work
and purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Linda Zakrzewski upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Lifetime Achiever of the Year Award by the Clarence Chamber of
Commerce, to be celebrated at its 52nd Annual Awards Gala on Thursday,
March 20, 2025, at Samuel's Grande Manor in Williamsville, New York; and
WHEREAS, Linda Zakrzewski was nominated for this prestigious award
for her steadfast and unremitting commitment to her beloved community of
Clarence, New York; and
WHEREAS, Linda Zakrzewski has truly shaped her life around helping
others; as a public school teacher for 36 years, she instilled in her
students the skills necessary to be successful in life, as well as a
sense of pride and community involvement through her establishment of a
National Junior Honors Society at Buffalo's PS 81 and the school's first
Girl Scout Troop; and
WHEREAS, Upon moving to Clarence in 2002, Linda Zakrzewski immersed
herself in as many community volunteer opportunities as she could; she
taught religious education for 16 years, volunteered for countless
church events, and recently began giving of her time and energies to
Meals on Wheels; and
WHEREAS, One of Linda Zakrzewski's earliest contributions to the
Clarence community was her involvement in scouting; she became a Girl
Scout leader for both of her daughters' troops, as well as an active
participant in her son's Boy Scout Troop; over time, she became the
Service Unit Leader of the Clarence Girl Scouts, Service Unit Campout
Director, and took on several Girl Scout Troops in need of a leader; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, Linda Zakrzewski started a Girl Scout Day Camp
program at Camp Windy Meadows; staffed entirely by volunteers, the camp
is a place where girls can come for an affordable camp experience which
is girl driven and girl led, teaching leadership and empowerment to the
next generation of Girl Scouts; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Linda Zakrzewski was named a 2019 Women of
Distinction by the Girl Scouts of Western New York; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Linda Zakrzewski has
displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Linda Zakrzewski upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Lifetime Achiever Award by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Linda Zakrzewski.
