CONGRATULATING Carman Bogle for her ceaseless
dedication as Mayor of the Village of Cambridge, New
York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those individuals of outstanding purpose whose lives have been
committed to public service and the pursuit of excellence in the conduct
of the legislative process in this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Carman Bogle for her decade-long service as Mayor of the
Village of Cambridge, New York, which will conclude on April 7, 2025;
and
WHEREAS, Carman Bogle graduated magna cum laude with a degree in
political science from Kaplan University in 2014; she put her skills to
immediate use by running for a trustee seat in the Village of Cambridge;
one year later she was sworn in as Mayor, running on the "Community
Voices of Cambridge," party line; and
WHEREAS, Always holding great pride in her chosen hometown, Carman
Bogle was instrumental in developing and executing the many ceremonies
and activities that took place in 2016 to celebrate the Village of
Cambridge's 150th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Carman Bogle steadfastly helped the village weather the
storm damage from the May 2018 severe wind storm, and personally gave
Governor Andrew Cuomo a tour of the damage; and
WHEREAS Carman Bogle led with responsive and consistent leadership,
keenly demonstrated throughout the 2020 COVID pandemic, where she
swiftly transitioned to livestreamed village meetings and expertly
pivoted in response to the governor's many executive orders; and
WHEREAS, In keeping with her commitment to public safety and
collaboration, Carman Bogle spearheaded a citizen task force in 2021
that drove a top-to-bottom Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative
plan to satisfy state executive order requirements for the Village; she
continuously renewed the village's partnership with the town of
Greenwich to fortify the Cambridge-Greenwich Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Carman Bogle worked with village firefighters to build a
new upgraded and safety compliant 10,000 square foot firehouse, which
opened October 15, 2022, created a capital plan to purchase $250,000
dollars worth of air packs with no loan or tax increase, and secured a
$40 thousand USDA grant used to commission a brand-new fire truck; and
WHEREAS, As a testament to her hard work and under the leadership of
Mayor Carman Bogle, the Village of Cambridge has witnessed an economic
and financial transformation; she helped secure a $2.25 million NY
Forward grant to rehabilitate and update historic structures, create
trails and connections among natural resources, address important
infrastructure concerns and expand housing options; she also helped
secure an $11 million USDA grant for waste water infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, Carman Bogle has helped Cambridge maintain its small-town
allure and beauty by working with local Girl Scouts on developing a
"pocket park" on Main Street where the demolished Ackley Building was
located, and led the village to be the only New York municipality chosen
by the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for an inaugural
program called the Recreation Economy for Rural Communities- funding
that dovetailed nicely with the efforts in the opening of the Cambridge
Community Forest; and
WHEREAS, Carman Bogle has always led with a vision toward the future
through actions to fight the opioid epidemic by increasing access to
naloxone and hosting numerous public information forums with State
legislators and district attorneys; and helping the Village become more
energy efficient by working with the State to transition to LED lights;
and
WHEREAS, Carman Bogle has consistently prioritized the youth of
Cambridge, demonstrating her dedication through active involvement in
Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Cambridge youth cheerleading; it is
especially fitting that one of her final acts as Mayor was overseeing
the relocation of the afterschool program and summer camp building to a
more functional and improved location; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her role as Mayor, Carman Bogle has
generously volunteered her time in various leadership positions with
numerous local organizations dedicated to supporting the community,
including serving as Secretary and President of the Cambridge Lions
Club, Regent of the Ondawa-Cambridge Chapter of the National Society
Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and trustee at Coila Church;
and
WHEREAS, Carman Bogle has been deeply supported and encouraged by
her family and friends throughout her journey, including her husband
Scott, their children Austin, Angelina, Garrett, and Gabrielle, her
mother Mary, her grandfather Charles Gaiotti, and countless friends; and
WHEREAS, For the past 10 years, Mayor Carman Bogle rendered
faithful, conscientious and valuable service to the Village of
Cambridge, truly earning the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues, through supporting small businesses, nurturing key
attractions, delivering reliable services and protecting taxpayers; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Carman Bogle for her ceaseless dedication as Mayor of the
Village of Cambridge, County of Washington, New York, and to wish her
continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mayor Carman Bogle.
