Senate Resolution No. 632

        MOURNING  the  death  of  Joseph  E.  Taylor  Jr.,
        distinguished  citizen,   noble   firefighter,   and
        devoted member of his community
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens  of  the  State  of  New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life  in  their  communities  and  this
great Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Joseph  E. Taylor Jr. of Williston Park, New York, died on
March 5, 2025, at the age of 82; and
 
  WHEREAS, Born in Queens, New York, on December 27, 1942,  Joseph  E.
Taylor Jr. lived a fulfilling life and was known as a mentor, confidant,
and best friend to many; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Joseph E. Taylor Jr. was a loving husband to his wife Mary
for 50 years, and together they shared the joy of raising their children
Kathleen, Maureen (Ron), and Joseph III  (Julia);  he  was  a  cherished
grandfather  to Kristin (Jay), Michael, Nicole, Adriana, Megan, Colleen,
and Joseph IV, and great-grandfather of Jack and Madison; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Joseph  E.  Taylor  Jr.  distinguished  himself   in   his
profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of his community; and
 
  WHEREAS,  As an active member of his community, Joseph E. Taylor Jr.
enjoyed a 30 year career with the New York Telephone Company,  where  he
diligently worked his way up to Special Agent in the Security Department
before retiring; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Joseph  E.  Taylor Jr.'s commitment to excellence, and his
spirit  of  humanity,  carried  over  into  all  fields  of  enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Filled  with a strong sense of duty and a desire to assist
those in need, Joseph E. Taylor  Jr.  served  the  Williston  Park  Fire
Department  with  distinction  as a member of Hose and Salvage Company 3
for 50 years; and
 
  WHEREAS, Throughout the years,  Joseph  E.  Taylor  Jr.  served  the
Williston  Park  Fire Department in many different capacities, including
as 2nd Lieutenant of Company No. 2,  Captain  of  Company  No.  2,  Vice
President  of  Company  No.  2,  Warden  of Company No. 2, 2nd Assistant
Chief, 1st Assistant Chief, Chief of Department, Vice  Chairman  of  the
8th  Battalion,  Chairman of the 8th Battalion, and Treasurer of Company
No. 2; and
 
  WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication,  a  strong  desire  to  help
others,  and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with
family and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in  need;
Joseph  E.  Taylor  Jr.  was  such a firefighter; throughout 50 years of
devoted service, this volunteer heroically performed, above  and  beyond
 
the  call  of duty, those responsibilities which define the task of fire
protection; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Joseph  E.  Taylor  Jr.  touched  many  lives  through his
community work, and his generosity, integrity, and kindness  marked  him
as a truly special man in all his endeavors; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Armed  with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Joseph E. Taylor Jr. leaves behind a legacy which will  long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Joseph E. Taylor Jr.,  distinguished  citizen,  noble
firefighter, and devoted member of his community; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Joseph E. Taylor Jr.
