MEMORIALIZING Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim
May 2025, as Asian American and Pacific Islander
Heritage Month in the State of New York
WHEREAS, Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) have
contributed greatly to the wealth and cultural heritage of our great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to memorialize
Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim May 2025, as Asian American and
Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, The Asian American and Pacific Islander community has made
significant contributions to the state of New York, and the United
States as a whole, in fields ranging from science and technology to the
arts and humanities; and
WHEREAS, The AAPI community has a rich and diverse history, with a
wide range of cultural traditions and contributions that have helped
shape the fabric of American society; and
WHEREAS, The month of May is nationally recognized as Asian American
and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, providing an opportunity for
Americans to learn about and celebrate the important contributions of
the AAPI community; and
WHEREAS, We encourage all New Yorkers to learn about and celebrate
the rich history and culture of the AAPI community during this special
month, and to honor and recognize the many contributions that the AAPI
community has made to our State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, By commemorating the month of May as Asian American and
Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the State of New York, we can honor
and recognize the many contributions of the AAPI community to our state,
and promote greater understanding and appreciation of their diverse
cultures and experiences; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim May 2025, as Asian
American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Kathy Hochul, Governor of the State of New
York.
