HONORING Firefighter John Popeleski upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition
after 25 years of dedicated service to the Atlantic
Hook & Ladder Company No. 1
WHEREAS, Citizens across our State and Nation are inspired by and
indebted to our noble firefighters who exhibit courage and bravery every
day in the course of their duties; and
WHEREAS, Firefighters exemplify the power of human compassion and
the strength of the American spirit through actions of the most heroic
magnitude; their sacrifices and their selfless dedication merit tribute
and recognition by all citizens of this great country; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor John
Popeleski upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
after 25 years of dedicated service to the Atlantic Hook & Ladder
Company No. 1 to be celebrated at the 139th Annual Installation Dinner
Dance on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Royalton at Roslyn Country Club in
Roslyn Heights, New York; and
WHEREAS, John Popeleski has consistently demonstrated a level of
commitment, dedication, integrity and professionalism which truly
exemplifies excellence in fire service; and
WHEREAS, John Popeleski began his service to the community in July
of 2000 when he was elected to the Atlantic Hook & Ladder Company No. 1,
and over the past 25 years, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership
and dedication to the Company and the greater Port Washington community;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout his impressive two decades of commitment, John
Popeleski has held numerous officer positions within the Company
including: Captain of the Company in 2010 and 2011, and president from
2015 to 2019 and again from 2021 to 2022; and
WHEREAS, Leading with integrity and a deep commitment to his fellow
members, John Popeleski has been a key contributor to many company and
department committees; and
WHEREAS, Continuing his dedication to the community, John Popeleski
serves the community as the Mayor of the Village of Manorhaven, New
York, further exemplifying his passion for public service and civic
responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Firefighters unwaveringly serve our great State with pride,
valor, and integrity; these respected heroes are often the first to
respond to an emergency, whether the emergency is a fire, transportation
accident, natural disaster, act of terrorism, medical crisis, or spill
of hazardous materials; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help
others and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with
family and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need;
John Popeleski is such a firefighter; throughout 25 years of devoted
service, this firefighter heroically performed, above and beyond the
call of duty, those responsibilities which define the task of fire
protection; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Firefighter John Popeleski upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition after 25 years of dedicated service to the
Atlantic Hook & Ladder Company No. 1; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to John Popeleski.
