COMMENDING the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Eta
Nu Sigma Alumnae Chapter upon the occasion of
hosting its Swim 1922 Dry Clinic on April 26, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those organizations that exemplify a commitment to service,
education, and public well-being; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Eta Nu Sigma Alumnae Chapter
upon the occasion of hosting its Swim 1922 Dry Clinic on Saturday, April
26, 2025, at the Bedford Stuyvesant YMCA in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., founded in 1922, has an
enduring commitment to community service, education, and the empowerment
of underserved populations; and
WHEREAS, The Eta Nu Sigma Alumnae Chapter, based in Brooklyn, New
York, exemplifies this commitment through initiatives that address
critical public health concerns, including the disproportionate impact
of drowning on communities of color; and
WHEREAS, The Swim 1922 initiative, in partnership with USA Swimming,
aims to reduce drowning rates by increasing access to swim education and
water safety awareness, particularly among African American and Hispanic
youth; and
WHEREAS, On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the Eta Nu Sigma Alumnae
Chapter will host a Swim 1922 Dry Clinic at the Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA
in conjunction with the YMCA's National Healthy Kids Day; and
WHEREAS, This event will provide essential water safety education,
CPR training, and information on aquatic career opportunities, thereby
equipping participants with life-saving knowledge and skills; such
initiatives are vital in addressing health disparities and promoting
safety, wellness, and inclusivity within our communities; and
WHEREAS, Founded on the principles of sisterhood, scholarship, and
service, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. continues to uplift individuals
and families through programs that foster personal development, public
service, and civic responsibility; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to recognize those esteemed
organizations whose meaningful contributions and steadfast commitment to
community advancement serve as an inspiration to others and reflect the
highest values of civic engagement and public service; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize and commend the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Eta Nu Sigma
Alumnae Chapter, for their unwavering dedication to public service and
their proactive efforts in promoting water safety through the 2025 Swim
1922 Dry Clinic; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Eta Nu Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho
Sorority, Inc., as an expression of our deep appreciation and support
for their invaluable contributions to the well-being of our communities.
