Senate Resolution No. 902

        MOURNING the death of Sean Patrick Murphy, beloved
        son,  father,  brother,  uncle,  friend, and devoted
        community member
 
  WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who,
through their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to  better
the  quality of life in our community and have had a measurable positive
impact on the lives of its residents; Sean Patrick Murphy was  one  such
individual; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  with  profound  sorrow  and  deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of Sean Patrick Murphy, a cherished
resident of Shrub Oak, New York, who died on September 1, 2024,  in  the
comforting  care  of  Rosary  Hill  Home, after a courageous battle with
brain cancer; and
 
  WHEREAS, Born on January 12, 1961, in  Bronxville,  New  York,  Sean
Patrick  Murphy  lived  a  life  marked  by vitality, generosity, and an
unrelenting commitment to family, friendship, and community; and
 
  WHEREAS, A product of St. Patrick's Elementary School  and  Yorktown
High  School,  Sean  Patrick  Murphy's formative years were defined by a
spirited sense of humor and camaraderie,  qualities  that  continued  to
endear him to all who knew him throughout his life; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Sean Patrick Murphy continued his education at Westchester
Community College  and,  more  informally  but  no  less  significantly,
through  life  experience  on Walter Road, where he became known for his
wit, authenticity, and strength of character; and
 
  WHEREAS, Professionally, Sean Patrick Murphy began his  career  with
the  Asplundh  Tree  Company  and  became  a licensed arborist; he later
poured his heart into the Victory Cafe and Murphy's  Restaurant,  mixing
cocktails and ensuring every patron left as a friend; and
 
  WHEREAS,  A  man  of  indomitable faith and dedication, Sean Patrick
Murphy was  a  devoted  Catholic  and  a  longtime  parishioner  at  St.
Patrick's Church, who also found community and service through his proud
membership in the Elks Club; and
 
  WHEREAS,  An  avid  outdoorsman,  Sean Patrick Murphy was a fearless
black diamond skier and a lifelong  lover  of  music,  particularly  the
Grateful  Dead,  whose  melodies  became the soundtrack to his exuberant
journey through life; and
 
  WHEREAS, Sean Patrick Murphy's life was enriched and defined by  his
family, especially his beloved daughter Cailyn and son-in-law Reece, his
devoted  mother  Deneyse,  and his siblings Colleen, Erin (David), Denis
(Lynda), Patrick (Marijo), and Terrence (Caroline), as well as 32 nieces
and nephews who will forever  carry  forward  his  legacy  of  kindness,
laughter, and love; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Even  in  his  final  days,  Sean  met  life  with  grace,
resilience, and music, often singing lyrics that captured  his  essence:
"This is no fond farewell... It's been a good long run... I don't regret
much, not much at all..."; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Sean  Patrick  Murphy  leaves  behind  a  legacy  of  joy,
compassion, humor, and community  spirit  which  will  long  endure  the
passage  of  time and will remain as a comforting memory to all who were
privileged to have known and loved such  an  amazing  man;  he  will  be
deeply  missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
mourn the death of Sean Patrick Murphy, recognizing the indelible impact
he made on his family, friends, and the community he so loved; and be it
further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Sean Patrick Murphy, with deepest  sympathy
and heartfelt condolences.
