        COMMEMORATING Westchester County Bar Association's
        125  years  of  service  to  the  Westchester  legal
        community
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and  character  of  life  in  this  great  Empire  State  is
significantly  enriched  by  the  faithful,  concerned,  dedicated,  and
diligent work of those individuals and organizations which serve to meet
the needs and enhance the welfare of the community  and  its  citizenry;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
commemorate Westchester County Bar Association's 125 years of service to
the  Westchester  legal  community; the Association will host its Annual
Gala at the Brae Burn Country Club in Purchase, New York,  on  Thursday,
May 15, 2025; and
 
  WHEREAS,  At  this  prestigious  event,  the  Westchester County Bar
Association  will  honor  Incoming  President,  Brian  S.  Cohen,  Esq.,
Outgoing  President,  James  K.  Landau,  Esq.,  the Association's newly
elected Officers and Directors for the 2025-2026 term, and 50  Years  of
Service  Award  Recipients;  the  James  D. Hopkins Lifetime Achievement
Award will be presented to The Honorable Linda  S.  Jamieson,  New  York
State Supreme Court Justice; and
 
  WHEREAS, On February 11, 1896, a group of eleven lawyers convened in
the  Supervisor's  Room  at  the  Westchester County Courthouse "for the
purpose of effecting an organization"; today, the Westchester County Bar
Association (WCBA) includes seven Sections and more than  40  Committees
with  a  voluntary  membership of more than 1,900 attorneys, judges, and
affiliates; and
 
  WHEREAS, The Officers  and  Board  of  Directors  of  the  WCBA  are
hard-working  and  diverse, representing a cross-section of the richness
and depth of  the  legal  community  of  Westchester  County;  attorney,
affiliate,  and  law  student members are afforded opportunities to help
shape Westchester's legal community and maintain the high  standards  of
the legal profession; and
 
  WHEREAS,  As a not-for-profit corporation, the WCBA seeks to elevate
the standards of integrity, honor, competence, and courtesy  within  the
legal  profession;  to  that end, the Association strives to promote the
ends of justice and cultivate the science of jurisprudence; and
 
  WHEREAS, The mission of the WCBA is to maintain the availability  of
the  law  to  all  who seek redress and facilitate the administration of
justice; through the Association's  many  programs  and  committees,  it
serves all members of society by seeking and perfecting the common good;
now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate Westchester County Bar Association's 125 years of service to
the Westchester legal community; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Westchester County Bar Association.
