Assembly Resolution No. 1104

        MOURNING the untimely and tragic death of Sheridan
        Grace Gorman
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  custom  of this Legislative Body to honor the
memory of those young lives taken too soon, whose promise  and  presence
brought  light,  hope,  and  inspiration to their families, friends, and
communities; and
 
  WHEREAS, With profound sorrow and deep regret, this Legislative Body
mourns the untimely and tragic  death  of  Sheridan  Grace  Gorman,  who
passed  away  on  Thursday,  March  19,  2026,  at  the age of 18, while
pursuing her studies in Chicago  as  a  freshman  at  Loyola  University
Chicago; and
 
  WHEREAS, A native of Yorktown Heights, New York, Sheridan Gorman was
the  beloved  daughter  of  Jessica and Thomas Gorman, and the cherished
sister of Madelon Gorman, and was  the  center  of  her  family's  life,
bringing joy, laughter, and love to all who knew her; and
 
  WHEREAS,  She  is  further  survived  by  her  loving  grandparents,
extended family members, and a wide circle of devoted  friends,  all  of
whom  were deeply enriched by her presence and who now carry forward her
memory; and
 
  WHEREAS, Sheridan Gorman graduated in 2025 from Yorktown High School
in Westchester County, where she distinguished herself  not  only  as  a
dedicated  student, but as a compassionate and engaged leader within her
school and community; and
 
  WHEREAS, During her time in Yorktown, she was actively  involved  in
athletics,  including  field hockey, lacrosse, and bowling, exemplifying
teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit, and further demonstrated  her
commitment  to  others by mentoring and coaching younger athletes in her
community; and
 
  WHEREAS, Proud of her hometown,  Sheridan  Gorman  embodied  a  deep
sense  of  loyalty and pride in Yorktown, uplifting those around her and
contributing to the strength and unity of her community; and
 
  WHEREAS, She began  her  collegiate  journey  at  Loyola  University
Chicago  with  enthusiasm and determination, embracing new opportunities
while continuing to share the warmth, kindness, and energy that  defined
her life; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Sheridan  Gorman  was  widely  admired  for her remarkable
ability to make others feel valued and supported, possessing  a  vibrant
spirit,  deep  compassion,  and  a  genuine kindness that left a lasting
impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her; and
 
  WHEREAS, Her love for her family, friends, community, and faith  was
evident  in  all  that she did, as she brought people together, uplifted
others, and made  even  the  simplest  moments  meaningful  through  her
presence; and
 
 
  WHEREAS,  The  loss  of  Sheridan Gorman has profoundly affected her
family, the Yorktown Central School District, Loyola University Chicago,
and the broader community, where  she  is  remembered  as  a  source  of
positivity, strength, and light; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Sheridan  Gorman's devotion to her family and friends, her
strong sense of compassion, and her ability to make others  feel  valued
and supported stand as enduring hallmarks of her life and legacy; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  tragic  circumstances  of  her  passing  have left an
immeasurable void, and this Legislative  Body  joins  in  extending  its
deepest  condolences  to  her family, friends, classmates, and all those
whose lives were touched by her presence; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
mourn  the  untimely and tragic death of Sheridan Grace Gorman, honoring
her memory and recognizing the profound and lasting impact  she  had  on
her community and beyond; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Sheridan Grace Gorman.
