Assembly Resolution No. 1115

        CONGRATULATING  the Kenmore East High School Model
        United Nations Team upon the occasion of winning the
        WNY Model UN General Assembly competition  on  March
        17, 2026
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those exemplary  educational  institutions  and  students  whose
achievements   bring   pride   and  distinction  to  their  schools  and
communities; and
 
  WHEREAS, Kenmore East  High  School  has  once  again  distinguished
itself  through  academic excellence and civic engagement by earning the
highest honor, Best Overall Delegation, at the Western  New  York  Model
United  Nations General Assembly competition on Tuesday, March 17, 2026;
and
 
  WHEREAS, This remarkable victory marks the 20th  time  that  Kenmore
East High School has achieved this prestigious distinction since 2002, a
testament to the program's enduring tradition of excellence; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  2026 competition was among the largest in Western New
York history, featuring nearly 900 students representing 76  delegations
from  47 schools, each simulating the work of the United Nations through
rigorous debate and diplomacy; and
 
  WHEREAS, Representing  the  nation  of  Belgium,  the  Kenmore  East
delegation   demonstrated   exceptional   knowledge  of  global  issues,
parliamentary procedure, and international policy, excelling  in  debate
and collaboration across multiple committees; and
 
  WHEREAS, In addition to being named Best Overall Delegation, Kenmore
East  students  earned  first-place  honors  in  the  Social, Cultural &
Humanitarian Committee, the Political & Security Committee, and  the  Ad
Hoc Political & Security Committee; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  team's  continued  success  is  a  reflection  of the
dedication, perseverance, and intellectual curiosity  of  its  students,
who  rose  to  the challenge of maintaining a legacy of excellence under
significant expectations; and
 
  WHEREAS, The team was expertly led by  social  studies  teacher  and
advisor  Christopher  Knab, whose commitment to his students and passion
for civic education have guided the  program  to  extraordinary  heights
over  many  years, and whose retirement at the conclusion of this school
year marks the end of a distinguished and impactful career; and
 
  WHEREAS, The  accomplishments  of  the  Kenmore  East  Model  United
Nations  Team  are  further enriched by the contributions of its student
members, including team captain Logan Fey, as well  as  Julia  Crawford,
Rylie  Harmon,  Emma  Cudzilo,  Miguel  Flores,  Abigail  Banaszak, Mena
Cortes, Tyler Kent, Madison Kopec, Kasia McGregor,  Lola  Norris,  Addie
Rejewski,  Rowan  Riley,  Natasha Stanko, Fatemeh Tajik, Callie Torchia,
Cole Wahler, and Ben Wojnowski; and
 
 
  WHEREAS,  Through their participation in Model United Nations, these
students  have  demonstrated  the   highest   ideals   of   scholarship,
leadership,   and   global   citizenship,  preparing  themselves  to  be
thoughtful and engaged members of society; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  the  Kenmore  East High School Model United Nations Team upon the
occasion of winning the WNY Model UN  General  Assembly  competition  on
March 17, 2026; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  copies  of  this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the aforementioned  members  of  the  Kenmore  East  High
School Model United Nations Team and Advisor Christopher Knab.
