COMMENDING Sitrin Health Care Center upon the
occasion of hosting its 22nd Annual Celebrity
Classic Wheelchair Basketball Game
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Sitrin Health Care Center upon the occasion of hosting its 22nd
Annual Celebrity Classic Wheelchair Basketball Game at Utica
University's Clark Athletic Center in Utica, New York, on Thursday,
April 16, 2026; and
WHEREAS, This year's fundraising game between the Sitrin STARS
wheelchair basketball team and a team of celebrity participants affords
Sitrin Health Care Center the opportunity to showcase the athletic
abilities of its players while advocating for individuals with physical
impairments; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, more than $200,000 has been raised to
purchase adaptive equipment, including specialized wheelchairs for
basketball and road racing, and paid training and travel expenses for
numerous athletes; and
WHEREAS, The proceeds from this year's event will benefit the Sitrin
STARS program which provides physically impaired individuals the
opportunity to participate in various adaptive sports, including
wheelchair curling, road racing, paddling, and archery in addition to
wheelchair basketball; these talented athletes have competed on
international and Paralympic levels, representing the United States
throughout the world; and
WHEREAS, The Mission Statement of Sitrin Health Care Center is to
provide help, inspire hope, and facilitate healing to people in need
through integrated, compassionate care delivered in a safe and nurturing
environment; and
WHEREAS, Sitrin Health Care Center's Vision Statement is to continue
to seek innovative solutions that will enable people of all ages,
abilities, and circumstances to achieve their full potential for health
and well-being; and
WHEREAS, This commitment that Sitrin Health Care Center maintains
has resulted in the establishment of numerous organizations and
programs, including senior care, NeuroCare, veteran care, medical
rehabilitation, adaptive sports, special needs, community, and
childcare; and
WHEREAS, For more than 70 years, as pioneers in various programs and
services in healthcare, Sitrin Health Care Center of New Hartford, New
York, has had an immense impact on its community; the health, wellness,
and rehabilitation of its clientele are the focus of this organization;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sitrin Health Care Center upon the occasion of hosting its 22nd
Annual Celebrity Classic Wheelchair Basketball Game and to honor its
members, past and present, who have labored so conscientiously to secure
and improve the quality of life for the members of the community; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sitrin Health Care Center.
