Assembly Resolution No. 1225

              congratulating  Michael  Masciola  upon  the
        occasion of celebrating his 100th Birthday
 
  WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and  knowledge
to  the  increasingly  active  roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a  vital  part  of,  and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the custom of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens  of  this  great
Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
congratulate  Michael  Masciola upon the occasion of his 100th Birthday,
to be celebrated on Friday, June 5, 2026; and
 
  WHEREAS, Michael Masciola was born on June 5, 1926, in Harrison, New
York; a lifelong citizen of Harrison, Michael Masciola attended Harrison
schools; and
 
  WHEREAS, Upon turning 18, Michael Masciola felt  a  strong  urge  to
serve  his  Nation  and  he  proudly enlisted in the United States Navy,
serving during World War II aboard the destroyer USS Soley; and
 
  WHEREAS,  After  returning  home  to  Harrison,  New  York,  Michael
Masciola began working at A&P Grocery Store; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Michael Masciola met his beloved wife, Jean, while working
at A&P Grocery Store, and together they shared the joy of  64  years  of
marriage and raised five cherished children; and
 
  WHEREAS,  With  an entrepreneurial spirit, Michael Masciola and Jean
owned and operated the Franklin Park Deli in Harrison, New York, between
1969 to 1981; their deli business became a local staple,  and  the  hard
work  demonstrated by Michael Masciola and Jean made them well-known and
loved members of their community; and
 
  WHEREAS, After leaving the deli business,  Michael  Masciola  worked
for the Harrison Central School District as a groundsman; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Despite  retiring, Michael Masciola still felt a desire to
utilize his strong  work  ethic  and  connect  with  his  community;  he
accomplished  this  by  making  the decision to open and operate his own
landscaping business after his retirement, serving Harrison,  New  York,
and the surrounding area; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Michael  Masciola  knows the importance of community work,
and he and his wife would dedicate time to volunteering with  the  Meals
on Wheels program in Harrison, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS,  When  not  working,  Michael  Masciola  enjoys refinishing
furniture, building Adirondack chairs,  and  crafting  wooden  patriotic
figures holding the American flag; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Since  the  tragic  events  of September 11, 2001, Michael
Masciola has demonstrated his patriotism and commitment  to  remembrance
each  year  by placing the American flag along the fence overlooking the
I-95 thruway on Nelson Avenue in Harrison, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Michael Masciola has eight grandchildren and their spouses,
and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom affectionately call  him  "Pop";
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Guided  by  simple  but  powerful values, Michael Masciola
reminds himself and others to never stop  moving,  have  faith,  cherish
family,  and  love  your  country;  by  following  these values, Michael
Masciola spends his time with purpose, generosity, and pride; and
 
  WHEREAS, Michael Masciola, with his zest for life, has inspired  and
enhanced the lives of his family and friends; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This distinguished man has experienced the incredible joys
and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those  with  the  stamina
and courage to savor a full life; and
 
  WHEREAS, Michael Masciola has enriched the lives of those around him
through  his  joyous and sincere love for others and through the vibrant
charm and infinite wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and
 
  WHEREAS, It is the intent  of  this  Legislative  Body  to  publicly
recognize  those  who  have  reached  such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated  the  innovations,  cultural  developments  and
awesome  achievements  of  this  country  during the last century, while
themselves contributing to the  growth  and  excellence  of  this  great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Michael Masciola upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th
Birthday; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Michael Masciola.
