HONORING the Oneonta High School Girls Track Team
upon the occasion of their victory in the New York
State Division II 4x100 Meter Relay at the 2024 New
York State Track and Field
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes great pride in recognizing and
honoring those student-athletes within the State of New York who have
distinguished themselves and brought pride to their schools and
communities through their outstanding athletic achievements; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to instill the values of
teamwork, pride, and accomplishment, and it is the custom of this
Legislative Body to commend those who, by their commitment and
dedication, achieve excellence in their sport and set an inspiring
example for all who follow; and
WHEREAS, The Oneonta High School Girls Track Team displayed
remarkable determination and athleticism in capturing the New York State
Division II 4x100 Meter Relay Championship at the 2024 New York State
Track and Field Championships held on June 7-8, 2024, at Cicero-North
Syracuse High School; and
WHEREAS, Demonstrating exceptional teamwork and skill, the team of
Thalia Wellman, Selene Wellman, Claire Seguin, and Madeleine Seguin
secured their victory with a record-breaking time of 49.88 seconds,
setting a new Oneonta High School record in the event; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Oneonta High School Girls Track Team
have proven themselves to be exemplary athletes whose perseverance and
commitment to excellence have earned them this well-deserved
championship title; and
WHEREAS, The success of this talented team is a testament to their
hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship, as well as the support of
their coaches, families, and school community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
applaud the achievements of these outstanding young athletes whose
dedication and determination have brought honor to their school, their
community, and the entire State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Oneonta High School Girls Track Team upon the occasion of
their victory in the New York State Division II 4x100 Meter Relay at the
2024 New York State Track and Field Championships; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Thalia Wellman, Selene Wellman, Claire Seguin, and
Madeleine Seguin, as well as to their coaches and school administrators
in recognition of their outstanding achievement.
