COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of the
Huntington Assembly of God
WHEREAS, Religious institutions and the many spiritual, social, and
educational benefits they confer play a vital role in the development of
the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Huntington Assembly of God; and
WHEREAS, The Huntington Assembly of God is led by Pastors Dan and
Damaris Rivera; through their compassionate, dedicated leadership, the
congregation serves as a spiritual home guided by the mission to love
and serve every community, every culture, and every corner; and
WHEREAS, The Huntington Assembly of God reaches and uplifts the most
vulnerable in its community; the congregation provides meals, resources,
and clothing every month to homeless individuals, and essential
resources to mothers and children under five years old; the congregation
partners with the Helping Hand Rescue Mission to amplify the impact,
ensuring that all community members have access to the services they
need; and
WHEREAS, The Huntington Assembly of God has an expansive outreach
program, serving the greater Huntington community; the Lifeline Food
Pantry, Backpack Giveaway, and Thanksgiving Harvest Dinners provide
vital resources and services, as well as sense of safety and belonging;
every year, the congregation serves over 10,000 pounds of food items
from their pantry; and
WHEREAS, The Huntington Assembly of God empowers children and teens
across its community; the Station After-School Program and Sports Week
sports camp build confidence and leadership skills, and provide a
productive, valuable outlet for students outside of their school
activities; Forward Youth, Huntington Kids, and the Young Adult Growth
Group further provide positive, uplifting environments for our next
generation; and
WHEREAS, The Huntington Assembly of God hosts support groups for
men, women, and seniors, with the mission to create spaces of shared
understanding across meals, events, and programs; the Growth Groups
allow neighbors to share the burdens and challenges they are facing,
while building support and friendship; and
WHEREAS, The Huntington Assembly of God is the cornerstone of our
community, serving our most vulnerable, uplifting and empowering our
next generation, and fostering a safe, welcoming environment for all of
its congregants; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Huntington Assembly of God,
fully confident that this commemoration reflects the belief in those
values which enhance the dignity and purpose of life; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Pastors Dan and Damaris Rivera, Huntington Assembly of
God.
