MOURNING the death of Patrick W. Curry,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Patrick W. Curry of West Hempstead, New York, died on
Friday, May 1, 2026, at the age of 61; and
WHEREAS, Born to John (Jack) and Ann Curry on December 1, 1964, in
Syosset, New York, Patrick W. Curry was the sixth of eight siblings, and
he graduated from Garden City High School in 1983; and
WHEREAS, After completing high school, Patrick W. Curry attended
Boston University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in three years; he then
attended New York Law School and graduated with honors in 1989; and
WHEREAS, After earning his degrees, Patrick W. Curry began working
alongside his father and brother at the law firm Rosenthal and Curry,
where he applied his skill and intellect; and
WHEREAS, Patrick W. Curry distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Patrick W. Curry was deeply religious
and was a dedicated member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection
for over 30 years; there, he served as president of the Church Council
from 2004-2006, taught Sunday School, participated in Men's Ministry,
and engaged in Fellowship; and
WHEREAS, Religion taught Patrick W. Curry many lessons throughout
his life, and he was guided by the fact that everyone had value; he
approached every day with love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; and
WHEREAS, Patrick W. Curry's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Civility and community participation was essential to
Patrick W. Curry's life, and he was an active member and leader in
several community organizations, such as the East Meadow Chamber of
Commerce, the Salvation Army, the Garden City Kiwanis, and the Lutheran
Counseling Center; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of his many achievements, Patrick W. Curry
earned the inaugural Patrick Curry Legend Award for his lifetime
achievement and contributions to the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce,
the Volunteer of the Year award from the Salvation Army for his
unwavering support and effort in organizing the Annual Benefit Concert,
and the Everyday Hero Award from the New York District Kiwanis for his
decades of service; and
WHEREAS, Beyond his community and professional work, Patrick W.
Curry had a deep loyalty to the New York Jets and the New York Mets, and
his passion for the Jets led him to organize the Bring Our Jets Home
Y2k8 initiative; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Patrick W. Curry built a strong
community of family, friends, church members, and neighbors; he will
undoubtedly be missed by all who knew him; and
WHEREAS, Patrick W. Curry is survived by his devoted wife of 34
years, Susan (Suki) Curry; his children, Patrick, Kirsten, Arielle and
son-in-law Gideon An, and Taylor; his two beloved grandchildren, Ephraim
and Manasseh An; and his siblings, Sean and Maria Curry, Susan and Kevin
Heaphy, Kathleen and Ross Holt, Kerry and Edwin Keusey, Kevin and
Christine Curry, Thomas and Jennifer Curry (Siaca), and Heather and
Peter Damore; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Patrick W. Curry leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Patrick W. Curry, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Patrick W. Curry.
