Assembly Resolution No. 1503

        COMMENDING  the League of Women Voters of Saratoga
        County upon the occasion of hosting its 60th  Annual
        Meeting on June 9, 2026
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations within the State of New York whose  focus  and
intent  have  made  substantial  impact  on  its communities, State, and
Nation; and
 
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
commend the League of Women Voters of Saratoga County upon the  occasion
of hosting its 60th Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 9, 2026; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The League of Women Voters was founded in Chicago in 1920,
and has been empowering citizens and defending democracy ever since; and
 
  WHEREAS, The initial chapter  of  the  League  of  Women  Voters  of
Saratoga  County  was  also  founded  in  1920 at the Canfield Casino in
Saratoga Springs, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Upon the founding of the League of Women Voters of Saratoga
County, Kathryn Starbuck of Saratoga Springs was  elected  to  lead  the
organization as this chapter's first chairperson; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In 1965, the League of Women Voters of Saratoga County was
reestablished  and  remains  to  this  day  as  a  highly   active   and
non-partisan  grassroots  organization  focused  on  voter education and
civic advocacy; and
 
  WHEREAS, Initially operating as the League of Women  Voters  of  the
Saratoga  Springs  Area, the chapter expanded to cover the entire county
in 1999, leading to a growth in the organization's scope and impact; and
 
  WHEREAS, The League of Women Voters of Saratoga County  envisions  a
democracy  where  every person has the desire, the right, the knowledge,
and the confidence to participate in government; and
 
  WHEREAS, Since 1966, when its first organizing meeting was held, the
League has promoted and advanced non-partisan voter education and  civic
engagement in our region; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Specific  initiatives  sponsored  by  the  League of Women
Voters  of  Saratoga  County  include  the  registering  of  voters   in
low-turnout neighborhoods and in local high schools; and
 
  WHEREAS,  On  Tuesday,  June  9, 2026, the League of Women Voters of
Saratoga County will hold its  60th  Annual  Meeting;  this  significant
milestone  marks the importance of the chapter's work since its founding
and serves a reminder of the work that is yet to be done; and
 
  WHEREAS, Today, the  League  of  Women  Voters  of  Saratoga  County
continues  its  work  by  providing  trusted  voter information, hosting
 
candidate forums, and supporting an informed and  engaged  public  while
simultaneously  honoring  its  strong  commitment  to  not supporting or
opposing any political party or candidate; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  important  work  of  promoting  voter  education  and
engagement is vital to  the  successful  functioning  of  our  cherished
democracy; by dedicating time, energy, and knowledge, organizations such
as  the  League  of  Women  Voters  of Saratoga County contribute to the
preservation of democracy  and  advancement  of  our  communities;  now,
therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the League of Women Voters of Saratoga County upon the  occasion
of hosting its 60th Annual Meeting on June 9, 2026; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the League of Women Voters of Saratoga County.
