Assembly Resolution No. 1579

        MEMORIALIZING  Governor  Kathy  Hochul to proclaim
        October 26, 2026, as the Day of the Deployed in  the
        State of New York
 
  WHEREAS,  Throughout  our Nation's history, the men and women of our
Armed Forces have preserved our  freedom,  protected  our  security  and
upheld our democratic values; and
 
  WHEREAS,  From  the  battles  of the American Revolution through the
crucible of the two world wars to the war on terrorism  today,  our  men
and  women in uniform have stood proudly in defense of the United States
and the cause of liberty; and
 
  WHEREAS, Day of the Deployed is a day to honor those who  have  been
deployed,  are  currently deployed or will be deployed in service to our
country and a day to acknowledge the immense sacrifices they  and  their
families make to protect our freedom; and
 
  WHEREAS,  As  of  2012, all fifty states observe the National Day of
the Deployed; and
 
  WHEREAS, According to research based on the  Congressional  Research
Service,  New  York  State  had  3,724  service  members  serving in the
Post-War Era; and
 
  WHEREAS, Several hundred thousand members of the Armed  Forces  have
served in more than 200 countries in every region of the world; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  United  States  is  kept strong and free by the loyal
military personnel from the total  force  of  the  Armed  Forces,  which
includes  the  Active-Duty  components,  the  National  Guard,  and  the
Reserves, who protect the precious heritage of the United States through
their declarations and actions; and
 
  WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Forces serving at home and abroad have
courageously answered the call to duty  to  defend  the  ideals  of  the
United States and to preserve peace and freedom around the world; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Members of the Armed Forces are called upon to be deployed
on short notice to support, reassure, and defend allies and partners  of
the United States, and to deter adversaries around the world; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Members  of  the  Armed  Forces  personify  the virtues of
patriotism, service, duty, courage, and sacrifice; and
 
  WHEREAS, The families of members of the Armed Forces make  important
and significant sacrifices for the United States; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  appropriate  to honor those men and women from the
State of New York who have been deployed to serve our State  and  Nation
in the uniform of the armed forces; now, therefore be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim October 26, 2026,  as  Day
of  the  Deployed  in the State of New York, and to urge all citizens of
the State of New York to display the Nation's flag to  honor  all  those
who deployed on this day; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Kathy Hochul, Governor of the State of  New
York; and headquarters of the New York State National Guard.
