Assembly Resolution No. 1611

        COMMEMORATING  the  251st  Birthday  of the United
        States Marine Corps
 
  WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of  New  York,
who have served so honorably in wars in which this country's freedom was
at  stake,  as well as in the preservation of peace, deserve recognition
from this Legislative Body; and
 
  WHEREAS, It is the  intent  of  this  Legislative  Body  to  commend
members  of  the United States Marine Corps, who have served in times of
active conflict, as well as those who have served in times of peace; and
 
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud  to  commemorate  the
251st  Birthday  of the United States Marines Corps on Tuesday, November
10, 2026; and
 
  WHEREAS, Since its creation on November 10, 1775, by a Resolution of
the Second Continental Congress, the  United  States  Marine  Corps  has
protected our citizens and preserved our freedoms; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Through  their  superb  skills  in carrying out integrated
land, sea, and air operations, the officers and enlisted men  and  women
of  the United States Marine Corps have earned the respect and gratitude
of all Americans; and
 
  WHEREAS, Just as our country has established for itself  a  position
of  world leadership, the members of the United States Marine Corps have
proven themselves to be dedicated professionals, willing to defend lives
and protect the rights of our citizens and our Nation; and
 
  WHEREAS, Marines  have  fought  in  every  American  armed  conflict
beginning with the American Revolution; and
 
  WHEREAS,  A  United  States  Marine  is  trained  to hold his ground
against any odds and to ever stand ready to fight anytime, anywhere  the
President  or  Congress  may  designate; currently, the Marine Corps has
more than 200,000 active and reserve troops; and
 
  WHEREAS, The term Marine has fittingly been associated with  courage
and  military  efficiency  and,  the Marine Corps' motto "Once a Marine,
Always a Marine" has long been associated with loyalty  and  dedication;
and
 
  WHEREAS, The people of the State of New York are proud of the United
States  Marine  Corps'  rich  heritage  and unwavering dedication to our
country; and
 
  WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must  recognize
that  no  greater  debt  is  owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to  be  missing
in action; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Having exhibited their patriotism both at home and abroad,
these men and women demonstrated their love for their country and  merit
forevermore, the highest respect of their State and Nation; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Our  Nation's  Marines deserve to be recognized, commended
and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and
for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
commemorate  the  251st  Birthday  of  the United States Marine Corps on
November 10, 2026; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the United States Marine Corps.
