Assembly Resolution No. 64

        CONGRATULATING   the   Schuylerville  High  School
        Varsity Football Team and Head Coach John Bowen upon
        the occasion of capturing the 2024 NYSPHSAA Class  C
        Football Championship on December 7, 2024
 
  WHEREAS,  Individual  and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this  Legislative  Body  commends  rare  athletic
achievements  and  pays  special  recognition  to  those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
 
  WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both  the  moral  and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Schuylerville High School Football Team and Head Coach John  Bowen  upon
the   occasion   of   capturing  the  2024  NYSPHSAA  Class  C  Football
Championship on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the JMA Wireless Dome  in
Syracuse, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the Black
Horses  defeated  top-ranked  Salamanca  High School in a dramatic 26-20
victory; they bested the  No.  1  ranked  Warriors,  overcoming  a  20-7
deficit in the third quarter and the loss of their kicker due to injury;
and
 
  WHEREAS,   The   historic   win  marked  the  first  state  football
championship in  Schuylerville's  program  history,  following  previous
finals  appearances  in  2015,  2019,  and 2021, representing a crowning
achievement for a program that has consistently demonstrated excellence;
and
 
  WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of  black  and  orange,
family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported  the Black Horses throughout their journey as they ended their
season with an impressive 13-1 overall record; and
 
  WHEREAS, In  a  sport  such  as  football,  which  demands  athletic
prowess,  speed,  and  agility, Head Coach John Bowen and his assistants
have worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team,  teaching
these  outstanding  athletes lessons which will prove invaluable both on
and off the field; and
 
  WHEREAS, Head Coach John Bowen and all of the  outstanding  athletes
on  the  Schuylerville  High  School Football Team have clearly utilized
dedication,  determination,  and  teamwork  in   providing   a   lasting
contribution  to  the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
congratulate the members of the Schuylerville High School Football Team:
 
Ollie  Bolduc,  Leland  Boudreau,  Josh  Bowen, Jameson Brownell, Landen
Cumm.   Ernesto DaCosta, John Davis,  Rosevald  Delair,  Chase  DeLisle,
Madden  Dooley,  Jensen  Drennen,  Adam  Greyling, Luke Griffen, Desmend
Hanna,  David  Hart,  Joseph  Headen,  Cole  Kusky, Jaiden LaMere, Ethan
Lavender, Atticus McCarty, Levi Michaud, Max Montgomery, Michael Mullen,
Alexander Palmer, Hudson Peck, Alexander  Rion,  Logan  Schrader,  Silas
Schulte-Lindhorst,  Benjamin VanVeghten, Ethan Warner, Emajie White, and
Travis Wood; Head  Coach  John  Bowen;  and  Assistant  Coaches  Patrick
Toomey,  Wally  Dow,  Nicholas Richard, Alex Zuis, Morgan Cornell, Steve
Prouty, Jack Burger, Andrew Dumas and Mike Vargues upon the occasion  of
capturing the 2024 NYSPHSAA Class C Football Championship on December 7,
2024; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  copies  of  this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of  the  Schuylerville  High  School  Varsity
Football  Team,  Head  Coach  John  Bowen,  the aforementioned Assistant
Coaches, Superintendent Dr. Ryan Sherman, Principal James Ducharme,  and
Assistant Athletic Director Tracy Lyon.
