COMMEMORATING the 35th Anniversary of Trillium
Health, recognizing its legacy of courage,
innovation, and commitment to equitable healthcare
for all
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished organizations within the State of New York
that have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to providing inclusive,
equitable, and innovative healthcare services to underserved
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 35th Anniversary of Trillium Health to be celebrated
with a White Party on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Mercantile on Main
in Rochester, New York; and
WHEREAS, Trillium Health, a premier healthcare provider based in
Rochester, New York, is proudly honoring its 35th Anniversary, marking
more than three decades of exemplary service, compassionate care, and
groundbreaking advocacy in the field of public and LGBTQ+ health; and
WHEREAS, Trillium Health traces its origins to 1983, when AIDS
Rochester was established to provide critical advocacy, education, and
support services to individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS during
one of the most challenging public health crises in modern history; and
WHEREAS, In 1989, the Community Health Network was founded as a
community-based clinic to provide care to those living with HIV/AIDS,
and in 1990 became a Ryan White Grantee, ensuring that no one would be
denied care due to inability to pay; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, the organization
continued to evolve, playing a pivotal role in New York State's harm
reduction efforts through syringe exchange programs and expanding
services through partnerships, including a collaboration with Pleasant
Street Apothecary; and
WHEREAS, The 2010 merger of AIDS Rochester and Community Health
Network into AIDS Care marked a new chapter in service delivery, and in
2013, the organization rebranded as Trillium Health-broadening its
mission to include comprehensive primary care while remaining deeply
rooted in its legacy as a trusted provider for LGBTQ+ communities and
individuals affected by infectious diseases; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, Trillium Health expanded its reach by integrating
the Men of Color Health Awareness Project, also known as The MOCHA
Center, strengthening its commitment to culturally competent care; and
WHEREAS, Trillium Health earned a Federally Qualified Health Center
(FQHC) Look-Alike designation in 2016, and in 2025, officially became a
Federally Qualified Health Center-allowing the organization to extend
its services to even more individuals in need by increasing access to
federal resources; and
WHEREAS, From 2018 to 2019, Trillium Health undertook a period of
major expansion, adding women's health and pediatric services, new
healthcare facilities, and expanded pharmacy services to meet the
growing needs of the Rochester community; and
WHEREAS, Today, Trillium Health serves over 16,000 people in the
Greater Rochester area and continues to be the region's leading LGBTQ+
healthcare provider, grounded in the principles of equity, inclusivity,
and dignity for all; and
WHEREAS, The growth and impact of Trillium Health-highlighted by a
71% increase in patient population, attest to the critical role it plays
in advancing public health and social justice throughout New York State;
and
WHEREAS, The organization's enduring mission reflects a history of
courage, hope, and innovation, affirming that every person, regardless
of income, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity,
deserves high-quality, judgment-free, and affordable healthcare; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 35th Anniversary of Trillium Health, applauding its
unwavering dedication to healthcare access, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and
community wellbeing; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Trillium Health.
