CONGRATULATING the North Rockland High School
Track and Field Team upon the occasion of capturing
the NYSPHSAA Championship
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
North Rockland High School Track and Field Team upon the occasion of
capturing the NYSPHSAA Championship; and
WHEREAS, The North Rockland Track and Field team secured State
Championships in the 4x200 Meter Boys Relay and Boys 1000 Meter on March
8, 2025, at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, New
York; and
WHEREAS, With their championship victory in the 4x200 Meter Boys
Relay, the team proved themselves to be the fastest of all time in the
event, setting a new state record of 1:27.22; and
WHEREAS, Family, friends, and the community loyally and
enthusiastically supported the Red Raiders throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, These outstanding North Rockland High School athletes have
clearly demonstrated dedication, determination and teamwork in providing
a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition
of their school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the North Rockland Track and Field Team:
Jaquan Johnson, Naji Mosley, Darwin Almonte, Javon Lawrence, and Claudel
Chery; and Head Coaches Orlando Rivera and Steve Sutton on their
outstanding season and overall team record; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to members of the North Rockland Track and Field Team; Head
Coaches Orlando Rivera and Steve Sutton; Director of Athletics Joe
Casarella; Director of Physical Education, Health & Athletics Mike
Castaldo; Athletic Secretary Sheila Sydnor; Athletic Events/Equipment
Manager/Supervisor Kevin Hanlon; Principal Lauren DaPonte; and Dr. Kris
Felicello, Superintendent of Schools.
