CONGRATULATING the North Rockland High School
Girls Varsity Bowling Team upon the occasion of
capturing the NYSPHSAA Division 1 Championship
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
North Rockland High School Girls Varsity Bowling Team upon the occasion
of capturing the NYSPHSAA Division 1 Championship; and
WHEREAS, The North Rockland Girls Varsity Bowling Team secured the
2025 Division 1 State Championship on Friday, March 14, 2025, at AMF
Strike 'N' Spare Lanes in Syracuse, New York; and
WHEREAS, Despite being behind going into the final game of the
tournament, the North Rockland Girls Varsity Bowling Team showed
resilience and brought a championship back to Rockland County; and
WHEREAS, This victory demonstrates the continued success of the
North Rockland Girls Varsity Bowling Team, with the team also winning
championships in 2019 and 2022; and
WHEREAS, Family, friends, and the community loyally and
enthusiastically supported the Red Raiders throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, These outstanding North Rockland High School athletes have
clearly demonstrated dedication, determination and teamwork in providing
a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition
of their school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the North Rockland Girls Varsity Bowling
Team: Lilianna Boulay, Kaylee Dabreau, Jane DeSimone, Riley Ferguson,
Penelope Hernandez, Lily Conrad, Gianna Varano, and Sophia Vinci; Head
Coaches Joan Nelson and Don Laspina; on their outstanding season and
overall team record; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to members of the North Rockland Girls Varsity Bowling Team;
Head Coaches Joan Nelson and Don Laspina; Director of Athletics Joe
Casarella; Director of Physical Education, Health & Athletics Mike
Castaldo; Athletic Secretary Sheila Sydnor; Athletic Events/Equipment
Manager/Supervisor Kevin Hanlon; Principal Lauren DaPonte; and Dr. Kris
Felicello, Superintendent of Schools.
