Assembly Resolution No. 718

        CONGRATULATING Mark Malahosky upon the occasion of
        his  retirement  after  35  years  of  distinguished
        service in the field of pharmacy and healthcare, and
        in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to
        Trillium Health and the greater Rochester community
 
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to  recognize  and
commend  individuals  who  have  devoted their careers to the service of
others and  have  made  significant  contributions  to  the  health  and
wellbeing of their communities; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
congratulate  Mark  Malahosky  upon the occasion of his retirement to be
celebrated on June 26, 2025, at  Public  Provisions  in  Rochester,  New
York; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Mark  Malahosky,  a highly respected pharmacist, educator,
and healthcare leader, is retiring after a remarkable 35-year career  in
HIV/AIDS  care  and  community  health, including 20 years of service to
Trillium Health in Rochester, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Mark Malahosky graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science
in Pharmacy from the State University of New York at Buffalo  School  of
Pharmacy,  beginning  a  lifelong  commitment  to  the compassionate and
expert care of patients; and
 
  WHEREAS, During the height of the AIDS crisis, Mark Malahosky served
at a pharmacy that provided  critical  care  to  patients  of  Community
Health   Network-an   organization  that  would  later  become  Trillium
Health-where he developed a deep expertise in the treatment of HIV/AIDS;
and
 
  WHEREAS, Upon joining Trillium Health, Mark Malahosky was  entrusted
with  establishing  the  organization's  on-site  pharmacy  and clinical
pharmacy services, a major milestone  that  played  a  crucial  role  in
expanding  access  to care and ensuring medication affordability for the
most vulnerable populations; and
 
  WHEREAS, Mark Malahosky became a renowned expert on  the  340B  Drug
Pricing   Program,  which  enables  safety  net  providers  to  purchase
medications  at  a  reduced  cost  and   reinvest   the   savings   into
comprehensive  care  for  underserved communities-a strategy that helped
Trillium Health grow from 800 patients to more than 14,000; and
 
  WHEREAS, In addition to his clinical and administrative  leadership,
Mark  Malahosky  made a lasting impact as an educator and mentor, having
served as an Adjunct  Associate  Professor  at  the  Wegmans  School  of
Pharmacy  at  St.  John Fisher University since 2009, and as a preceptor
for students from  SUNY  at  Buffalo,  D'Youville  College,  and  Albany
College of Pharmacy; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Mark  Malahosky  has  been  an  active  member  of several
professional   organizations,   including   the   American   Pharmacists
Association,  the  National  Community  Pharmacists Association, and The
Pharmacists' Society of  the  State  of  New  York;  he  has  also  held
leadership  roles as Treasurer of Ryan White Clinics for 340B Access and
Secretary of 340B Grantees; and
 
  WHEREAS, Mark Malahosky celebrated his 20th Anniversary at  Trillium
Health  on  March  7,  2025,  and  retired  on the same day, marking the
culmination of a distinguished and deeply impactful career dedicated  to
improving public health and promoting access to life-saving care; and
 
  WHEREAS,  A  man  of  great  personal  integrity  and devotion, Mark
Malahosky's  most  cherished  role  is  that  of  husband,  father,  and
grandfather;  he  has  been  married  to his beloved wife, Helen, for 39
years, and is the proud  father  of  three  children-Sara,  Lauren,  and
Nicholas-and  grandfather  to four grandchildren-Breccan, James, Maddie,
and Tommy; and
 
  WHEREAS, Mark Malahosky's legacy  is  one  of  service,  innovation,
mentorship,  and  unwavering  compassion;  his  work  has  saved  lives,
transformed systems of care, and  uplifted  thousands  across  New  York
State; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Mark Malahosky upon the  occasion  of  his  retirement,  to
thank him for his exceptional contributions to the field of pharmacy and
community  health,  and to extend its best wishes for health, happiness,
and fulfillment in all his future endeavors; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Mark Malahosky.
