COMMENDING Churches United for Fair Housing upon
the occasion of hosting its Annual Gala on December
9, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those organizations that work tirelessly to address critical
issues affecting the people of the State of New York, and whose efforts
contribute to the creation of a more just and equitable society; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Churches United for Fair Housing upon the occasion of hosting
its Annual Gala, "Celebrating 16 Years," to be held on Tuesday, December
9, 2025, at Weylin in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Churches United for Fair Housing (CUFFH) is a grassroots
advocacy organization rooted in faith and community spaces, working at
the intersection of housing justice, immigration rights, social equity,
and economic empowerment; and
WHEREAS, Since its founding, CUFFH has remained deeply committed to
preventing displacement and advocating for truly affordable housing
across New York City's five boroughs, with a particular focus on serving
working-class, immigrant, and BIPOC communities; and
WHEREAS, Through its robust network of churches and community
partners, CUFFH has cultivated a movement of over 20,000 members,
advancing civic engagement, direct services, and long-term organizing
strategies to generate systemic change; and
WHEREAS, The CUFFH Annual Gala serves as a powerful and inspiring
gathering that honors the strength, resilience, and collective work of
community members, grassroots organizers, elected officials, and
religious leaders united in the fight for housing justice; and
WHEREAS, This year's celebration commemorates 16 years of dedicated
service, during which CUFFH has expanded its reach, strengthened its
organizing initiatives, and created new avenues for community power,
especially since relocating to its current home; and
WHEREAS, CUFFH continues to serve as a beacon of hope and action,
demonstrating the transformative possibilities that arise when faith,
community, and justice converge; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Churches United for Fair Housing upon the occasion of hosting
its Annual Gala on December 9, 2025, and to extend its deepest
appreciation for its unwavering commitment to social and economic
justice in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Churches United for Fair Housing.
