COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of Zonta Club
of Kenmore, New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Zonta Club of Kenmore, New York;
the organization will celebrate this momentous milestone throughout the
year with a great series of events; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1919 in Buffalo, New York, Zonta International
is a global organization of professionals dedicated to empowering women
and girls through service and advocacy; since its founding, the
organization has grown to encompass 1,200 clubs across 67 countries,
including the Zonta Club of Kenmore; and
WHEREAS, Zonta Club of Kenmore was founded in 1925 with the mission
of serving local communities through improving the lives of women and
girls in the Kenmore-Tonawanda area; the individuals who support this
mission understand that communities are stronger and healthier when
equal opportunities for education, healthcare, and domestic safety
exist; and
WHEREAS, To accomplish the organization's mission, the devoted and
proud members of Zonta Club of Kenmore address and support the changing
needs of local women and girls through service, advocacy, education, and
resource development; and
WHEREAS, To begin celebrating its 100th Anniversary, the Zonta Club
of Kenmore invited Community Outreach Manager Kelly Ghast of the Family
Justice Center to speak about the services and support available to
individuals in unhealthy relationships, and to provide educational
information necessary for members of the community who may be
experiencing relationship abuse; and
WHEREAS, Zonta Club of Kenmore will host 16 days of activism from
November 25 to December 10, 2025; this is an admired annual global event
that brings all Zonta Clubs together to spread their important message
of "Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women"; and
WHEREAS, Following the 16 days of activism, Zonta Club of Kenmore
will host a pancake breakfast at the Zion United Church of Christ on
Saturday, December 13, 2025, as part of its ongoing 100th Anniversary
celebrations; and
WHEREAS, In addition to the much-anticipated pancake breakfast, the
members of the Zonta Club of Kenmore also volunteer locally at many food
pantries and events throughout the holidays, including a "Blessing of
the Backpacks" event that is admirably held yearly; and
WHEREAS, The success of Zonta Club of Kenmore is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its members, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all their
endeavors; and
WHEREAS, The 2025-2026 Zonta Club of Kenmore Officers include:
President Jeanne Phillips, First Vice President Janice Gangloff, Second
Vice President Sheila Ginnane, Treasurer Audrey Moorhead, Secretary
Janet Biondolillo, and Directors Sharey Edholm and Kathleen Barrus; and
WHEREAS, The 2025-2026 Zonta Club of Kenmore Foundation Officers
include: President Jenny Johnston; Vice President Kathleen Kanaley;
Treasurer Susan Murphy; Secretary Carol McGrath; and Directors Donna
Anderson, Katherine Mang, and Katherine Gugino; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and achievements are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Zonta Club of Kenmore, New York;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Zonta Club of Kenmore, New York.
