MOURNING the death of Daniel P. Wilson,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Daniel P. Wilson of the Town of Florida, New York, died on
Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the age of 76; and
WHEREAS, Born to Robert D. Wilson and Agnes M. Monroe in Saratoga
Springs, New York, Daniel P. Wilson graduated from Mohonasen High School
and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve during the Vietnam War era;
and
WHEREAS, Daniel P. Wilson distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, Daniel P. Wilson began his career as a union carpenter and
worked various construction management roles with BBL; and
WHEREAS, A man of purpose and adventurous curiosity, Daniel P.
Wilson had a strong passion for aviation, veterans' causes, travel, and
machinery; and
WHEREAS, Inspired by his passion for aviation and community
involvement, Daniel P. Wilson served as a longtime member of the Board
of Trustees and recent Museum President of the Empire State Aerosciences
Museum in Glenville, New York; and
WHEREAS, Daniel P. Wilson's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Montgomery County was greatly improved throughout the years
due to Daniel P. Wilson's strong leadership and dedication to his
community; he began his political involvements as Town of Florida
councilman, then as board member of the Montgomery County Industrial
Development Agency and as Montgomery County Legislator for District 5;
and
WHEREAS, At the center of Daniel P. Wilson's life was his beloved
wife, Jill, and his precious children, granddaughter, extensive family,
and network of friends; and
WHEREAS, Some of Daniel P. Wilson's most cherished moments were
spent at his Florida, New York home which was his homebase for holiday
meals, sledding, golf cart and ATV rides, and family gatherings; and
WHEREAS, Daniel P. Wilson is survived by his son, Daniel P. Wilson
II; his daughter, Melinda J. Wilson; and his granddaughter, Ava M.
Wilson; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Daniel P. Wilson leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Daniel P. Wilson, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Daniel P. Wilson.
