        CONGRATULATING  the  Rye  High School Boys Varsity
        Football Team for winning  the  school's  first  New
        York State Class A Championship
 
  WHEREAS, The fabled tradition of gridiron success at Rye High School
has  continued  with the Rye Boys Varsity Football Team's victory in the
New York State Class A Championship game, topping Brighton 28-14 at  the
JMA  Wireless  Dome  in Syracuse, New York, on Friday, December 5, 2025,
and capping off its greatest  season  in  program  history  to  win  the
school's fifth state football title; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This  achievement  follows the building of one of the most
solid and consistent high school programs in New York  State,  finishing
with  an undefeated record of 8-0 in the regular season, the best record
of 14-0, and the best season in Rye High School's history;  steamrolling
opponents  week  after  week, with every victory coming in double digits
and setting school records for total points of 570, an  accumulation  of
6,431   yards,  through  an  explosive  offense  and  a  stingy  defense
throughout the  season,  was  claimed  by  the  talented  football  team
members; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This  championship  season  was  made  possible  with  the
Garnets'  combination  of  explosive  offense,  big-play  defense,   and
physical  strength  at  the  line that powered point production and shut
down opponents all season; and
 
  WHEREAS, The 2025 Garnets used these strengths, play execution,  and
great  game  strategy to move through the successive rounds of sectional
and state  playoff  tournament  competition  against  worthy  opponents;
sectional victories, beginning with an impressive Section 1 Quarterfinal
victory  of  44-19  over  Brewster  and  Section  Semifinal win of 36-22
against Eastchester, were followed by a Section 1 Class A Final  with  a
convincing win of 40-17 over Somers; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Rye's  tremendous  offense continued to shine in the State
Quarterfinals against Section 9 Champion Minisink Valley with a  victory
of  42-14;  this was followed by the Class A State Semifinal playoff win
over Cornwall with a score of 35-7 to clinch their  spot  in  the  state
championship against Brighton High School which yielded a 28-14 victory;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  team  members  and  their  coaches  were  loyally and
enthusiastically  supported  by   family,   fans,   friends,   and   the
community--all treated to the contact, sights, and sounds of high school
football at the highest level; and
 
  WHEREAS,   For   an   outstanding   season,  this  Legislative  Body
congratulates the members of the Rye High School Boys  Varsity  Football

Eduardo Fernandes, Charlie Brady, Benjamin Stigliano, Samuel Surak, Ryan

and Luke Walsh; Athletic Trainer Thomas Carson;  Director  of  Athletics
Susan  Reid  Dullea;  Principal  Andrew  Hara;  and  Superintendent  Dr.
Patricia Murray; and
 
  WHEREAS, Athletic  competition  instills  the  values  of  teamwork,
sportsmanship,  pride, and accomplishment; led by Rye's outstanding Head
Coach Dino Garr, dedicated Assistant Coaches Sean Zemlyak, Tom Proudian,
and AJ Thompson, as well as Director of Athletics Susan Reid Dullea, the
commitment and  collaboration,  with  the  team's  outstanding  players,
combined  to make the championship and the new page in Rye High School's
football history possible; and
 
  WHEREAS, The season also marked the fifth Rye  High  School  Varsity
Football State Championship for Rye's legendary Head Coach Dino Garr who
etched  his  name  in  the  record  books  as  New York State's all-time
winningest high school football coach with 375 wins; his reputation  for
building  squads  founded  on  teamwork,  preparation, strategy, and the
belief that every player can be part of an effort will be remembered  by
the players for the rest of their lives; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate and honor the Rye High School Boys Varsity Football Team on
this New York State Title; the winning of a  state  championship  is  an
enormous  achievement,  made  possible  this  season  through the team's
exceptional skill, resiliency, teamwork, and  energy  delivered  in  the
spirit  of  the  best  collegiate and professional championship football
teams; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That copies of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted  to the members, coaches, and administrators of the Rye High
School Boys Varsity Football Team.
