HONORING Casting Society upon the occasion of
hosting its inaugural Black in Casting: Black
History Month Potluck Brunch on February 28, 2026
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and pay
tribute to those cultural institutions and organizations whose
commitment to promoting the richness and diversity of the arts and
entertainment have contributed to the strength, vitality, and cultural
enrichment of their communities and the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Casting Society upon the occasion of hosting its inaugural Black in
Casting: Black History Month Potluck Brunch on Saturday, February 28,
2026; and
WHEREAS, Casting Society is a global organization of casting
professionals dedicated to upholding the highest standards of casting
within the entertainment industry; it is committed to furthering
education, providing resources and career development for its members,
mentoring the next generation, cultivating community, and advocating for
empathy, equity, and inclusivity throughout the creative process; and
WHEREAS, Casting Society's inaugural Black History Month Potluck
Brunch aims to recognize Black casting directors and casting
professionals and their substantial impacts and contributions, as well
as celebrate Black culture and honor the accomplishments of those
shaping global media across television, film, streaming, theater, and
advertising; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion hosted by Asjai Lou, the esteemed
founder of Black in Casting, will pay special honor to Adrian Wells and
Sujotta Pace, casting directors who have made remarkable contributions
to their fields; and
WHEREAS, This inaugural event will feature diverse cuisines
celebrating heritage, recognitions of industry impact and
accomplishments, professional photography and video documentation,
individual portrait sessions, a celebrity makeup artist, a historic
inaugural group photo, and a commemorative yearbook; and
WHEREAS, The arts are the building blocks of civilization; they are
central to human expression and inspire the imagination; those
individuals and organizations which further such worthy purposes richly
merit the recognition and appreciation of this Legislative Body and the
people of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional organization, its numerous important
contributions, and its vibrant role in improving the quality of life in
its community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Casting Society upon the occasion of hosting its inaugural Black
in Casting: Black History Month Potluck Brunch on February 28, 2026; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Black in Casting.
